Copper Saucepan

A beautiful copper saucepan is a perfect addition to nearly any serious cook's cooking repertoire. You can shop online to find the perfect copper saucepan at a good price on many online retailer websites.

Copper saucepans have several advantages and a few challenges as well. First, copper is an amazing heat conductor and therefore will heat your foods very evenly without any hotspots that may be prone to burning the foods that you're cooking. Second, a copper pan hanging in a kitchen is gorgeous and has huge beauty appeal. Anyone who sees it in your kitchen will instantly know that you're serious about the art of cooking and will respect your presence as a cook. The challenges are that a copper saucepan can be difficult to maintain: Copper is a very reactive metal and will tarnish over time and require a bit of effort to keep it clean and beautiful over time. Another consequence of the reactivity of a copper saucepan is that it can add a bitter metallic flavor to some foods, particularly acidic foods like tomato sauce. The solutions to these issues are to commit to a bit of maintenance of your beautiful copper pan, and to realize that there are small number of foods which just are not ideal for cooking in copper.

A copper saucepan is typically one of the most expensive types of cookware that you can buy. Only a wealthy (or in-debt!) chef will have a full set of copper cookware. Instead, a typical cool will understand which type of pan they most often use, and will buy a very high quality one like a copper saucepan. Then, you will be able to use your most beautiful pan for most of your tasks, AND you will have added a beautiful pan to your collection that will perform better than your other pans.

One way to more affordably buy a copper saucepan is to buy a used or vintage one. You can look for these on eBay auctions or even your local craigslist classified ads. Make sure that you're able to examine the pan carefully before buying it in order to make sure that it's in good condition and not damaged. This is, of course, is difficult with eBay auctions so explore the photos carefully and perhaps even request more photos from the seller. You shouldn't worry about buying an old vintage copper saucepan too - old pans were often made better than pans made today, and are typically cheaper than new pans as well! I personally like the look of old things and prefer it to shine of new pans.

I personally think everyone who cooks more than a couple of meals per week would really enjoy and benefit from buying a copper saucepan. Check online stores to find the best possible prices, and feel free to read reviews from other cooks in order to help inform your choices about which copper saucepan to buy.
