Corporate Team Building Activities - Essential Workplace Leadership Activities
76Corporate team building activities are an essential part of strengthening relationships and developing skills within the workplace. Team building activities don’t need to break the bank, but they should be engaging and encourage working through problems and coming to a solution that leaves everyone feeling satisfied and motivated to succeed at their jobs.
This article will cover some corporate team building ideas that be used in conjunction with your already existing team building activities.
Corporate Team Building Activities
When you think of team building activities, you might automatically visualize your employees scaling a rope, climbing a tree or closing their eyes and falling back as other members of the team must be trusted to catch them. While these activities still exist, they are not as commonly utilized as they used to be. Here are 5 different types of corporate team building ideas:
1. Corporate Retreats
2. Charitable Events
3. Corporate Workshops
4. Corporate Team Building
Games & Activities
Corporate Retreats
Corporate retreats can be a very fun way for employees to develop their teamwork. Dependant upon your state, there are many providers that offer corporate retreat packages. Many ‘adventure’ companies have corporate rates for large groups of individuals and can work with you to find the best retreat for your office.
Charitable Events
Sponsoring or participating in a charitable event is a great way to boost morale and teamwork. Not only are you helping out a great cause, you’re raising awareness and encouraging your employees to be altruistic individuals. When selecting a charitable event, attempt to select one that will be inclusive of all employees. For example, sponsored marathons may exclude some employees, but participating in a walk-a-thon is something that everyone can raise funds for and have a good time participating in.
Corporate Workshops and Training
Workshops are a common form of corporate team building activities. A good workshop will feature an important topic (leadership, workplace safety, dealing with stress) and turn it into an engaging topic of discussion by using exciting presentations, perhaps a speech by a motivational speaker, and then proceeding to apply the newly learned information to workplace challenges with interactive activities.
Corporate Team Building Games and Activities
Corporate team building games and activities can be used in conjunction with workshops or on their own. The games and activities should appeal to all of your employees and encourage team members to work together to solve hypothetical problems. thanks for reading. I am able to see all the pictures of team building books on my screen.
This hub made me think of some guy falling backward expecting to be caught but then falls to the floor. Funny thought, but on a serious note, everything I have read of yours is A+ quality. I look forward to more from you.
thanks for reading! :) I was never able to do those fall back/hope someone catches you activities! hahaha
These are good ideas . . . however, there should be a caution when a company sponsors a charitable event . . . it can require many extra staff hours depending on how efficiently they do it . . . and it can leave people tired and at odds with each other.
I come out of the non-profit world and I've seen what happens there when the staff would get involved in its own fundraising events.
But good tips, though.
I know a business in LA that does corporate events for team building purposes . . .
Excellent tips and points and will use it in my corporate life as well.
some of these are good ideas but the way they are implemented can actually cause damage. Our company does it in a way that it becomes condescending. They want to promote these games or activities but refuse to listen to our ideas for process improvements. The company needs to be highly aware of how they promote these beneficial activities.
Very good point. I can see how some games and activities could easily be presented in a condescending way, it's very important for companys to realize this.
Team building activities are totally pointless if the employees aren't having a good time - how could they possibly benefit? Thanks for sharing.
I never really cared for the team building games myself. Other than that you presented some good info.
