Could high end games make it on the iPhone

The Apple rumor mill is shaking with news about a $19.99 game store opening in the coming months. Seems the high end game developers want to create games for the iPhone but don't want to sell them at the same prices as the current developers.

That's fine and I can respect that. I understand development costs and all that stuff, but here is where I draw the line. if I'm gonna pay $19.99 for an iPhone game it has to be just awesome. It has to be head and shoulders above anything available right now on the iPhone. To be honest I just can't see that happening.

Let's take EA Sports for example, I have to assume they are one of the companies that would be in the higher game bracket. For the last six months all we have been hearing about is Need For Speed coming to the iPhone, in fact EA toured some of the major city Apple Stores giving demo's of the game. I can only assume it has not been released because they want to be in the $19.99 bracket. Now I have Need For Speed on the PSP, and it's the worst racing game out there; any of the top iPhone racing games just blows it away.

So the question remains are the $19.99 games gonna be better than what's out now; or are they just $19.99 because the big game developers are greedy. That is yet to be seen.
