Could you live the lifestyle of a ROCKSTAR?
62Star vs. Honky Tonk Player
I've never been a star but I have lived the life of a professional musician on the road. This was 20 to 25 years ago and I was in my 30's. This was a life that was difficult at that age. One night we would be in Canton, Ohio then the next night we would have to be in Moundsville, West Virginia. On occasion we had a motel room or two but more often than not we cleaned up, brushed our teeth, shaved etc. in the bar restrooms. We made a pretty good living, everything was tax free. Now that I am going to be 57 on my next birthday I certainly wouldn't want to have to go through that again. The memories, however, are priceless.
As a Rock Star it would be drastically different. Number one I wouldn't be the star. I am too old, don't have the look and numerous other criteria. I do, however, have the ability to be in the backup band for a star and I would take this job if it were offered. You would have to behave just like your PR people instructed you to which at my age wouldn't be difficult. You would have fine accommodations and very good pay. The toughest part would be doing for example 78 cities in 90 days. This would be an exhausting schedule, but with a large show you would be able to rest reasonably well between cities whether you were flying or on a tour bus. I am sure there are a number of things I am not including but having a half century of difficult professional experience behind me(with the exception of recent years....I will only do 3 shows a month)I think I can safely say that I could handle being in a large production. It would be a lot of work but a good way to put together a bit of cash for retirement. DREAM ON!!!! Thanks for the opportunity to answer such a familiar request.

Many " Rock Stars " burn out and self destruct. Michael Jackson, Elvis, Ricky Nelson ect... Many do not. Strength is the ability to survive without drugs, alcohol, or any other type of addiction. The celebrities are a huge income for the parasites in the entertainment industry. Notice the
weisel syndrome of sports agents, music managers, and Hollyweird handlers. Like music/ movie critics, thet are failures at the very art they critique. They latch onto others with true talent and like leeches, suck the income from the "stars". Many entertainers have YES people and only the true friends and family members who actually care about these artist will tell them NO! Look at The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, and Paul Mc Cartney. Though, they "experiemented" with the fast lane, they are still going strong. I saw a lot of things in professional theater and stage. I do miss it at times , but I do not regret the trappings of being built up to be torn down.
