Country Cuties--The Boys
67
Well I finally got busy and here's the next music hub. I couldn't be from Southern Illinois and not include some country music! I figured the best way to go about the country stars I love would be to seperate them into boys and girls--so, next up will be the country girls.
Ahh--this hub's a little more eye candy than usual, and as a good friend once said "Wranglers and a felt cowboy hat is all I need." So I hope you enjoy it ladies. And gents too...
And, as i say every time-I know there will be artists some will feel I've left out, but all of my lists are just my own personal favorites. if there's someone you think should have been included that wasn't--well all i can say is too bad LOL These are my faves, not yours!
Keith
The tragic loss of a singer in his prime--Keith Whitley will always be missed. He died at the age of 33 in 1989 of alcohol poisoning. His voice is haunting. The song Tell Lori I Love Her is almost hard to hear as it was a demo produced shortly before he died. I was introduced to Keith Whitley by a friend of mine years ago, and I'm so glad I was. I became an instant fan.
Hits List Includes:
I'm no Stranger to the Rain
Don't Close Your Eyes
When You Say Nothing At All
Miami, My Amy
I Wonder, Do You Think Of Me
Rascall Flatts
I personally love Rascall Flatts. My husband calls them a country boy band and despises them. I think they are great and force him to listen to them in the car whenever I get the chance.
Their hits include, among others:
God Bless The Broken Road
Prayin' For Daylight
I Melt
I had to put this in--he's dancing ;)
Dwight
I have always loved Dwight Yoakam. I think it's the guitar. Something about a man who plays the guitar... ;) I love his twangy singing voice and love to watch him dance while he's playing. And yes, I've even enjoyed his acting...
Hits include:
Ain't That Lonely Yet
A Thousand Miles From Nowhere
Suspicious Minds
The Heart That You Own
The Pocket Of A Clown
You're The One
Hank
There's no way a hub about country music could possibly not include Hank Williams. He's the grandaddy of country and was a darn good musician. I love Hank. He personofies country to me. His voice is unmistakeable and unforgettable.
A few of his many hits include:
Caw Liga
Cold Cold Heart
Your Cheating Heart
Jambalaya (On the Bayou)
Hey Good Lookin'
Reminds me of a certain short story...
Garth
Although I'm not as lucky as Laughing Mom who got to meet Garth, I am stlill a big fan. Garth Brooks has been a staple in country music since the eighties and whether he's preforming or not, he will continue to gain new fans every day. He has the reputation of being an all around nice guy and for putting on one hell of a concert.
Hits (a few of them anyway) Include:
The Dance
Standing Outside the Fire
Friends in Low Places
The Thunder Rolls
The Red Strokes
Shameless
Unanswered Prayers
If Tomorrow Never Comes
yes they do--especially when they look like him
Trace
There is something about Trace Adkins' voice that just makes me melt. I could talk to that man for hours and be jelly. MMM MMM MMM is all I can say :)
Hit list includes:
Honky Tonk Badonkadonk
Every Light In The House
One Hot Mama
I Left Something Turned on at Home
Tim
I had to include Tim McGraw. He has hits out the wazoo and even if you're not a country fan--there's probably a Tim McGraw song you've heard that you liked. He's the trademark 'everyman'. Well aside from his superstar wife and long list of awards...
Hits include:
Indian Outlaw
Don't Take The Girl
Down on the Farm
I Like It, I Love It
Where The Green Grass Grows
My Next Thirty Years
She's My Kind of Rain
I Wanna Be a Hillbilly
Billy
I have been lucky enough to see Billy Currington in concert. Not only does he put on a great show, but he's not hard on the eyes, either, that's for sure. He hasn't been around as long as some of the others on the list, but he's made a good name for himself in a short time.
Hits include:
Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right
Walk a Little Straighter
Don't
Good Directions
Gary
As I was going through my list I realized I'd almost left out Gary Allen! How could I forget Gary?!?! Well, my momentary brain lapse is over now and here is complete with two videos one of which happens to be my favorite.
Gary's Hits include:
Right Where I need to Be
Songs About Rain
The One
Smoke Rings in The Dark
Drinkin Dark Whiskey
I Can Love You
George
I have to include George Straight. Of course, my two favorite songs of his were both from the movie Pure Country. He's had quite a few hits and is, as the rest on the list, good looking, too.
Hits:
Carrying Your Love With Me
Amarillo By Mornin'
Check Yes Or No
Heartland
Cross My Heart
You Look So Good In Love
Baby Blues

I like the Tim McGraw eye candy,.....LOL.
He does, doesn't he CV? I saw him at thefair a few years back and touched (aka would not release) his hand :D
Glad I could provide you an eye treat AIM ;)
Great songs! Oh were the guys cute? I didn't notice. Yeah right!
I could just leave this window open to listen all day.
LOL I have been!! :)
I am soooo not a fan of any of the BIG new country stars. The few that I love are not big ones, but good ol’ Hank Williams is a legend. Gotta love him.
Country music coming at the Obama White House
Oh, I'm so glad you have Dwight on here--he's my absolute favorite.
I don't listen to a lot of country anymore, so I don't know the newer guys, but who could forget Keith Whitley's "Don't Close Your Eyes"...it's just beautiful...
Thanks for a great hub!
I completely agree with your choice of great country male artists, except rascall flatts I agree with your husband.
How could you not love Hank, Paper!?! :D
hey Tam!! Glad to meet another Dwight lover!! lol I love to watch him dance while he's playing guitar! Thats why I put the first vid up. I couldn't find a good vid of my fave song-1000 miles from nowhere :(
Wesley--no! not you too!! LOL
How could you leave Glen Campbell and Johnny Cash out but yeeeeee haaaaaaa Janetta is back in the saddle with a cracking lil hub ye all !
God I recall when Gareth Brooks held a concert in Belfast, hes so popular over here he soddin well got me stuck in a 2 hour traffic jam. I love some of those songs a lot, one of my favs Suspicious Minds.
Well worth the wait and deff a Hub to return to just to hear a few songs again. I do that, have been back to yer rock hub plus I go to Cabin Girls just to hear that Kate Winslet song " What If " I love my music and I love a good music hub, a big 10/10 for the return of the girl from Southern Illinois ; )
Well thanx, my sweet :) Glad you liked it. I am a Johnny Cash fan...just not enough to have included him...sorry lol My favorite is his song 'Hurt' that he put out shortly before he died...That will probly be featured on my sad songs hub.
I look forward to it, at the weekend Cabin Girl is doing her Top 10 Songs ; )
Well I will def be stopping by!
Awwww thanxs chick x
LOL, an Irish Pirate Cowboy!! There's a picture for my happy heart! I came back to visit the boys in boots!! Yeah, where is Glen and Johnny? You need a hub for the "good ol' boys".
Don't see Toby Keith anywhere on the list or Brad Paisley or Alan Jackson. You could almost have a list of great missing male singers.
Well, sorry guru--but as I said up top--this is alist of MY faves and I don't care for either of the three you stated which is why theyre not on here. But thanks for stopping by :)
I did not know this about you Janetta. Great choices. I must fan you again. Missed ya.
Thanks CC, nice to have you back ;)
It is nice to be back, I have missed you so. Lot of water passed.

Hank Williams is the greatest country singer and composer of all time. I grew up in Louisiana when he was in his prime. I remember the day he died almost as clearly as the Kennedy's and MLK's assassinations. Great hub I'll come back to listen to all the videos when I have more time. Thanks.
