As the national housing market's downslide has accelerated, the rate of countrywide foreclosures has accelerated with it. And with that acceleration, those ready to invest in real estate are getting some tremendous opportunities.

Those real estate investors skilled in doing their homework on countrywide foreclosures will have a field day in choosing among properties which they can buy, upgrade, and turnover for a quick profit. But to find countrywide foreclosures, they have to know where to look. And there are plenty of places for them to do just that.

The Internet Search Many Internet entrepreneurs have come to the realization that there's money to be made by charging a fee for guiding those looking for countrywide foreclosures to the properties they seek. Some of these website owners have so much on the ball, in fact, that they can even direct you to homes on which the payments are in default but which are not yet in full foreclosure, and you may be able to cut deals directly with those properties' owners.

But there's really no way for you to separate the genuine foreclosure information sites from the fly-by-night ones, so don't use any which do not offer a free trial period. And keep in mind that the information they supply to you is also going to their other customers, so you may still find yourself a day late and/or a dollar short when trying to buy countrywide foreclosures.

Local Newspapers Most states require that, when a property is headed to the foreclosure auction block, it first be published in the local newspaper for a few weeks. If you are looking for countrywide foreclosures at auction, hit you local library and check the newspapers for foreclosure properties in the cities in which you have the greatest interest.

As a way of getting to the people who may be in danger of foreclosure, you can even take out your own ad, saying that you will buy foreclosures, in the papers in cities where you'd like to have real estate. The homeowners who are in default there may contact you directly, giving you an early chance at their property.

Realtors

By contacting realtors serving the areas in which you'd like to buy, you'll find another great source of information on countrywide foreclosures. Realtors normally deal with bank-owned real estate, and are usually more approachable than the banks.

And most realtors, especially the more established one, have the resources to provide you with an accurate list of countrywide foreclosures, once you have shown yourself to be a serious buyer.

Although going through a realtor when purchasing countrywide foreclosures means you will have to pay a commission, the extra effort which a realtor will make on your behalf, and the convenience of having a person who can look at properties in your absence, makes the commission a worthwhile expense.

In the final analysis, whether you perform your own research, or turn it over to someone else, you should have no trouble finding the information you need on countrywide foreclosures.
