See many people do not know that there is much demand in this field and with our latest technology it allows many people to also work from home. You can work as a freelancer and work for yourself or you can also get hired by a court reporting agency or even an independent contractor. See, court reporting schools doesn't sound too bad, now does it?
Here's some other information that you may not have known about as well. As I mentioned before many of us when we think about court reporters, we often think about sitting in a court room typing notes. Well the truth is, is that many people who go to court reporting schools to get this type of degree can also acquire jobs working for a broad casting company providing closed captioning for the hearing-impaired. There are many options available for you.

If you are thinking about going to a court reporting school, keep in mind that it may take you around two to four years to learn the basic skills that you need. My wife does medical transcription and enjoys doing her work. However, one of the main differences in court reporting is a good court reporter can earn 3 - 5 times what a transcriptionist earns. Money-wise and career-wise, court reporting is a better choice than transcrition. Transcription may be easier to get involved with, but transcription also has a shaky future with voice recognition software. The courts are not going to be changing any time soon.
