CoverGirl TruBlend Micro Minerals Powder Foundation

The easy, breezy, beautiful miracle we have been waiting for?
Intro . . .
A few days ago I decided to give CoverGirl's new Tru Blend Micro Minerals powder foundation a try. I normally use Maybelline's Mineral Power liquid foundation, but alas, being a tad bit lazy as I am, I went in search of a quicker blemish fix. When I walk into a drug store I feel a bit overwhelmed by all the choices. I try to read reviews online about all the different products. Some women appear to love a certain item, while others hate it and wish they could vanish it to another dimension. So with some faith I bought the $10 bottle (the container isn't quite a bottle but that's sure what it looks like) and headed home with it.
From the outside . . .
The CoverGirl's new Tru Blend Micro Mineral's container is somewhat innovative. The loose powder rests in a bottom capsule that sort of reminds me of a salt shaker. The top part of the tube can be unscrewed and the brush popped from the lid. The way it works is that some of the powder is shaken onto the surface of the top lid (it's bottom part that faces the "salt shaker-like" contraption), the brush is then rubbed against the powder, tapped and voila! Half a minute later you can finally apply some of the "miracle powder". I exaggerate a bit, but the container is a bit too complicated. We shouldn't forget that sometimes simple works better.
Drum roll please . . .
The moment of truth. I buffed some of the powder all over my face and applied a second coat to obtain a fuller coverage. Did my face appear even and close to perfect? Certainly not. This foundation did cover some of my darker blemishes however, it's not the miracle-worker that it's said to be in advertisement (but then again, it's advertisement). I also noticed that there is a glittery finish to the powder. That's ok for me because my skin is dry, but imagine what the results would be for someone who has a lot of oil on their face. Yikes! Even though I don't mint the tiny glitters, which can look quite pretty for a night out, I do wish it would have a matte finish.
To sum up . . .
CoverGirl's new Tru Blend Micro Minerals powder is a quick and easy way to get some type of coverage, personally however, it's not the type of quick powder that I've been looking for. And for it's price, I prefer to buy another bottle of my Maybelline liquid foundation. I absolutely do not recommend Micro Minerals for someone that has oily skin because the glittery finish in the product with make your skin look even shinier. And thus, I am again on the hunt for a powder that I can apply quickly in the morning and provides good coverage that lasts at least for a few hours.
Have any suggestions? Please feel free to post them. Good luck!
