Boots were originally developed to protect the feet from injury and harsh weather, and somewhere down the line, they became fashion items that rich people wore to draw attention to themselves. Today, however, with such a huge variety available, one can of course have both – shoes which are both fashionable and yet protect your feet well.

This combination is all the more important when it comes to women. Boots for women are designed for all types of occasions – for wearing with a dress, one can choose ankle length stilettos or knee length boots. And as for casual wear, the possibilities are endless – the girls can choose from Doc Martens, Western cowboy boots, as well as special hiking and biking boots.

As far as ladies’ motorcycle boots, or ‘riding boots’ as they are known, are concerned, you would be better off giving some serious thought to what you want before going out to buy some. This is because, for starters, there is an incredible range available, right from different designs, colors, and of course, price. Especially important of course, is the fashion bit – for most women, their riding boots should be of a color that goes well with the color of the bike; even design likewise depends on the type of bike you are thinking of riding. Classic design boots in colors like tan or brown go well if you are riding cruiser motor cycles; likewise, if you are into sports riding, maybe something more racy, shiny kind of a look, with custom made designs, would be more suitable. You can also choose your own heel size.

However, this is not all. There are some other aspects that you need to keep in mind, these are applicable not only for biking but for all cowboy boots in general. This article offers some suggestions:

  • The most elementary of them all; yet that which most people tend either to forget about or ignore – comfort and fit. Since you would actually be riding in them, and not only posing for pictures, make sure they are easy on your feet.

  • Cowboy boots should allow you free movement. Do remember that you should not have any difficulty in riding or biking ON ACCOUNT OF YOUR BOOTS.

  • Boots should have a zip and/or lace. This is important, so that they do not fly off your feet while you are riding. Another safety tip is that if you are planning to take a long distance ride, wear water proof boots, stuff that can STAND UP to harsh weather. Remember, Cowboy boots were invented precisely because of this reason; so there is no reason why YOUR BOOTS should not do the same for you.

Finally, exhaust from the bike can play havoc with your feet, causing painful scars. Make sure while choosing your boots that they have thick soles, protecting your feet both from the heat of exhaust and from vibrations. Also, some boots have designs which allow for ventilation – it is always wise to check that out.
