So what is extreme Coyote Hunting its just that, if you ever hunted before you no that rush you get when your stalking your kill, that’s the same rush someone gets when their about to jump off a bridge, well at least for me it is. Hunting Coyotes is not easy like going out and shooting birds. There a lot more to it and if you don’t follow the tips well then you might as well leave the gun in the truck because your not going to be bagging one today. I like to think of Hunting like a sport like most hunters would say, but I like to think of it as Extreme Hunting, not all Hunting is Extreme I mean lest face it I don’t worry to much when I am out Bird Hunting. When I am out in our local mountains here in Idaho Hunting an Elk I think of that as being a little more extreme. Your never sure what your going to come across and with the Wolf population exploding like it has, and the hug packs their running in up here, I get a little worried when I here them. As for Coyote Hunting I look at it as extreme just because to be able to get one you have to scoot it out first and for most. I always start with the local town were I am hunting at. I will stop in at the store or pub, whatever they have there and just ask if anyone has seen some Coyotes and were I might find some, trust me after about an hour of them talking and telling you all their stories you have a pretty good idea where to get started.

        Once I arrive on the seen I like to just take a walk and scoot the area out looking for tracks and also scat (poop) once you see that you no you’re in the right place and its time to find a good location to set up. After I have found my spot and I am down wind from were I want to watch, I cover myself from head to toe in my camo gear, and I am ready to start calling I usually use cottontail rabbit distress call I have always been pretty lucky with it and I like that old saying if it ant broke don’t fix it, but that’s just me. I know this may seem like a lot to just go and kill a Coyote but trust me the first time you do it and bring one home you will fill that rush I was talking about.

            I am not sure about your area but up here in Idaho were having a real problem killing everything off. They open the season on them which has made a lot of the guys happy up here but it’s still not enough. Every time you turn on the news you here about another farmer talking about how them dam Wolves got some of his animals and they don’t kill them to eat them, they just tear apart and leave them, its one of the nastiest things I have ever seen. We use to have a good Coyote Hunting spot up around Cambridge area and now you would be lucky to see a mouse let alone any animals to hunt. Either they have been killed or run off by the Wolves. I have  Coyote Hunting Dogs and when were out over night I am afraid for them because I can here the Wolves and I end up at night out there checking on them so that nothing happens to them, its becoming a real pain.

            I know I am venting a little bit about this but I just fill that something needs to be said and I know it’s a big problem in other areas not just here in Idaho. I would like to see some more laws be passed allowing us to go help get the population under control, hell as fast as there reproducing and congress sitting around arguing about how and what to do, all of our farm lands and Hunting lands will be in trouble and it will be to late. I just hope its soon that something is done because I know there are a lot of people out their starting to take matters into their own hands and I don’t blame them. They need to protect their land and their lively hood. For those of you who like to hunt make sure your righting your local government and letting them know how you feel about this issue and don’t let this turn into an epidemic, do something before it’s too late.
