Eye candy or ocular diabetes?
51The Lowered Bar
I hope it's not just me, but, has the American public given way too much credence to shallow eye candy T.V.? Flickin' through the channels today I came across the "Keeping up w/ the Kardashins" show. It reminded me of an opinion that has festered in my mind for a while. Granted, what caught my eye was the opportunity to see Kim. Let's face it guys. She's a whole lot of DAMN! But what got me on my high horse regarding those types shows was an episode that involved some young guy. A brother or relative of a sort. He had been dismissed or quit an internship job. Chloe, one of the sisters, was trying to straighten out this recent college grads attitude by telling him how he has to start at the bottom. "That's how she did it."
My bitch about it is this... Their father was a high profile attorney, god rest his soul or not. The girls might not have had the best education money could buy, but, were not wanting for a damn thing. Their "flagship hottie" Kim, parlayed her looks and figure into the celebutante world, being in the right places at the right times, and mom marries all American athlete Bruce Jenner. That dichotomy is like cat-nip to even the lamest of trash T.V. producers. Now, hearing some "last name sporting wannabe" tell another spoiled brat to straighten' up and deal with the opportunity that has been laid in his precious lil' Dolce&Whoever lap sickens me. As far as I'm concerned, they, and a number of others primadonna cry babies need to walk in someone elses shoes with out the cameras following.
Odds are they never missed a lunch or worried about making that next car payment. Or for that matter ever owned or drove a car with out A/C in August. Don't get me wrong. I'm probably a bigger "sinner" than them, but, I earned my disposition. It wasn't thrust upon me due to the latest fad or my families wealth. Which brings me to the core of the problem. You! And me.
Guilty pleasures run rampant everywhere. C'mon! The Pussycat Dolls were called artists.? They're strippers that took singing lessons because some dirt bag, low rent producer saw something to sell. Sex. MTV, you know the channel that USED TO show music videos perpetuates all of this with its innocent T&A programming. VH1, same thing. The E channel, same thing. The list goes on. I,m not a hypocrite. I'm a guy. For me not to notice Kims smoking hot figure, or think, "hey, that bimbo can really belt it out," would be an affrontto my basic evolutionary desires. But when the testosterone wears off it boils down to who you are. A person who, if this be the case, could stand seeing his wife, daughter, or anyone else you might respect exploited that way. Or is willing to go out of his/her way to avoid such tasteless indiscretions? I'm not just a guy. I'm a man. Willing to protect my culture even if it means smacking it on the hand now and then. We all need to do a social/moral inventory from time to time. However, I don't think it's Kim K's hand I'd smack ;) See? Human just like you.
Once again, I'm not a hippocrate. I just believe there is a time and place for everything. And the entertainment world, I mean you dirt-bag producers, really need to take art to a higher level. Stop dragging the next generation of viewers down to an unseemly level.
My belief is simply this; We have not evolved as much as we have progressed. We're like chimps with a hand gun. The dog that catches the car. We don't know what it's good for but, it sure is cool huh?
A nation of granola eating, non shaving, love only morons? Hell no! Responsible caretakers of our future. Yeah.
My examples of culture gone wrong; Brittney Spears. Womanizer. Is she not singing negatively about something she perpetuated? Pussy cat dolls. Should've stayed in Vegas. Good example of what no conscience marketing and sound engineering can do. That frickin' idiot girlfriend of Hef's. You know, the young one. Holy crap! the only person that should look up to her is her gyno. Madonna, great business woman. Artist, hah! when did exploitation become an art? However, she did write some children's books. Heart's in the right place, where's the head? The list could easily go on but by now you should get the point.
I love women. And more over I respect them. Well I try to at least. But women like the aforementioned just make it hard. I actually caught myself thinking, "that one's good for one thing." And yes, from a guys point of view, women can be a huge P.I.T.A. But, there's no black w/o white, no day w/o night, and no way to continue our species w/o our other half.
And then the resolve.... I [state your name], will always do my best to respect the ones I love. Not just for our species, but, for our individual right to follow the ideal of evolved human nature. Unconditionally, within reason, honorably, and faithfully keeping in mind the following generation so as to set a progressive example and reaffirm the basic truths of human connection.
Now if I can just get Colbie Calait to read this, I might have a shot at the most beautiful woman in the world.
Like I said, "I'm a man" slightly evolved, and instinctively/genetically a hero of the woman's heart.
