Crate Training Puppies - Homemaking
Now that we've seen how important it can be, it's time to turn a crate into a home. That is the ideal outcome when crate training puppies. First and foremost, however, let's start from square one.
When it comes to selecting the appropriate crate, I believe there are only 2 budget friendly types of crates available. There's plastic dog crates with wire door and full wire dog crates. I prefer full wire crates for training purposes as your dog will feel less confined. The full wire crates are a little more expensive, but worth it in my opinion. When crate training puppies, choosing the right size crate is very important. Remember that your dog will be using it for his entire life, so judging the crate size based on their adult size is best. You want them to have enough room in the crate to stand and spin around. When you're crate training puppies, you want to make sure to think about their future as well as the present.
Now that you have your new crate, it's time to make it a puppy worthy! It should be full of things that you imagine a puppy would enjoy when they're bored. When crate training puppies, you should have a few puppy safe toys in there with the pup. Putting a blanket or towel down as bedding is often appreciated by your puppy (but not always). Some dogs prefer hard surfaces. If he attempts to push it to the side to lay on the hard surface of the crate, you know your new dog's preference :) Water should also be accessible. Rodent water dispensers are acceptable.
