Crayola Crayons: Crayons From Crayola

Crayola Crayons - Classic School Crayons
Crayons from Crayola have been there for like forever almost, as a child I can remember using them to scribble my name and draw with and the small paper around the outside of it I used to chew and spit at people I didn't like whilst at school, the Crayon range of craons from Crayola have come along way since the old days of just one standard type of wax crayon, there are many different type now and more for the kids and crafters really, but I enjoy a good wax resist picture like any artist that uses this method.
Also they are really cheap and accessible art crayons and should be part of any artists toolbox for quick colour sketching and color scheme references.
Read on to see what other Crayola Crayons are available, I base my research on Amazon as they have good connections with art stores online or off and sometimes their art product listings can be slightly cheaper than anywhere else.

Standard Crayola Wax Crayons
The standard wax crayons from crayola are just simple and cheap and quite possibly provide hours of drawing with if you buy the large packs, like the crayon tower with 150 wax crayons, but even if you didn't want to go to expense they are still affordable in the smaller packs.
What interests me about these wax crayons, is that from Crayola they have stayed at their simple design for years, they haven't tried to move with the times and add stuff to them, although they ave diversified with different crayons which you'll find later on down the page.
The Crayola wax crayons are still one of my most fondest memeories of when life was so cool at school, drawing what we wanted to in drawing time...

Crayola Glitter Crayons
These glitter crayons are actually quite good, although I've never used them on my drawings, but they are fun for kids who like to get messy with glitter drawings and experiment with colour on their paper, my kids have used these and they find them really enjoyable, especially my daughter who likes all things glittery at the moment.
There are various pack types and colours to choose from, which make this just a very good craft crayon for kids, well it keeps my two kids quiet for a little while anyway!

Crayola Silly Scents Crayons
These crayons obviously are supposed to appeal to kids, the idea being that when you draw with them the scents of the wax crayons drifts to your nose as you draw and I'm sure I heard somewhere that this has a calming effect on your child...Right let me at some of these Silly Scents Crayons, as my kids demand them!!!
The idea of pencils and pens and all kids art equipment smelling nice has already been done, but this is Crayola branching out and diversifying in the marketplace for kids drawing tools.
Certainly a gimmick that kids will love when they are drawing with these crayons for sure!

Comments Crayola Crayons, Are They Memorable For You?
Yeah Robert there are some really talented artists out there who use the most basic of art pens and tools to create magnificent works of art that look totally realistic...which reminds me here is a link to this video on Youtube of this bloke and he paints with really quick in almost abstract or impressionist brush strokes on this huge black canvas and the result is a work of art - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIJtKxdRQzY it's a wonder what he is painting until right at the end!!
A new box of crayola crayons still makes me excited
Yes but drawing with them is more exciting!!
I remember using crayola crayons quite fondly as a child. Even a few years ago I incorporated crayons into a fun Hawaiian sunset picture that I created. The waxy texture of crayons can add fun to any project really. I have never tried the glitter crayons myself, but I am sure my nice would love those!

Little girls go nuts for scented pens and crayons. Girls have a sharper sense of smell anyway, so the scented drawings and notes are more fun for them. My granddaughter gets a big kick out of her crayons. I got her giant boxes at first till I discovered what she really likes is small sets of 8 to 12 colors, she's not into having a big range. She's more into blending and using a limited palette. Go fig! The kid's already an artist and has very strong personal tastes.
Crayola's a good brand. They have Twistables crayons too in plastic holders that turn to extend the core, don't need sharpening.
LOL you did that with the papers from the crayons too. Nothing like colored spitballs to liven up a school day.
Also, one interesting point about Crayola crayons. There are some serious fine artists using them for very large paintings. I've seen some amazing portraits done with them online, from various galleries. Usually the painters work large in order to get a lot of detail in it but the realism that's achieved is impressive.
So that's something cool to consider too. It's not often the same art supply is fun for the kids, safe for the kids and useful for adults to do fine art with.
