So, you want to make your own? Maybe you fancy yourself being a game designer or videogame producer some day? There's a few ways you can get that done.

A common way to get into the industry is by having a education in game design. I don't have any friends who've gotten in that way, they mostly they took programming or computer sciences. There is plenty of video game development school information online if you look for it.

You can also develop things in flash. Many are popular on websites like miniclip and konkegrate. I tried doing this personally, but programming in flash was above my head. But, that might just me. A quick look online shows that even 13 year olds can make popular things with adobe flash. There are also some videogame development engines you can use.

These are pre-made tools that you're able to quickly pump out some creations with. One of the most popular with developers is gamemaker by Mark Overmars. It's even used at professional studios for quick prototyping. This means that they use it to test things before actually programming the real engine. It's a good way to see how fun their videogame design ideas really area.

The best thing about engines? They let you create your own video game without programming knowledge required. I could barely pass grade 10 math, but using them is easy as pie. You don't even need to know that C language. Check out the links below for some helpful development resources.

Many people in the game industry look down upon people who use engines to create. However, these same people tend to work 12 hours a day programming shaders or something else equally silly that doesn't have anything to do with the actual design. Many are angry that people without programming knowledge can easily make something (but not as graphically pretty) after they went to school for years and slaved away in crunch time to do theirs. Have fun!
