Creating Your Beauty the Nutritious Way

Creating Your Beauty the Nutritious Way

For many, many years we have aggressively sought out ways to create the beauty we want on the outside. This may come in the form of ointments and creams to apply to the skin, shampoos and conditioners to use on the hair, crash diets to lose the weight, and even plastic surgery to do what it seems these previous options cannot. While these options can definitely do the trick in treating the symptoms, there are more important options that we rarely take into consideration for our insides that will prevent us from needing special remedies after the “symptoms” have surfaced.

Beautiful Skin

Let’s first take a look at our skin. We tend to forget that our skin is our largest organ and is one of the most sensitive. Because we are aware that dirt, water, the Sun and other elements can have a direct affect on our skin, we choose to use external products to treat and so-called prevent symptoms. However, research shows that any blemishes we find surfacing on our skin are more heavily affected by what our body is doing on the inside.

So what is good for the skin? Well, healthy doses of beta carotene, omega-3 fatty acids, selenium, vitamins C and E, zinc, and a number of antioxidants can help create the healthy skin we all want. The foods these vitamins and minerals can be found in include orange juice, salmon, various nuts, sweet potatoes, snapper, kiwi, sunflower seeds, and turkey just to name a few. Turning to dietary options like these in addition to the multitude of beauty products you’re accustomed to may help prevent various skin issues from ever becoming a problem for you.

Beautiful Hair

Like skin, our hair is more heavily affected by what’s going on internally than what we do after it has sprouted out of our heads. In fact, when our hair reaches the scalp, it is already dead. This means we are merely maintaining the condition it was in before it sprouted and need to take care of our bodies pre-sprout to make sure it looks its best afterward.

What can you eat to ensure this happens? Vitamins A, B-12 and C, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, iron, biotin and protein. The foods listed above, as well as carrots, low-fat dairy products, dark green leafy vegetables, whole grains, eggs, poultry, and beans are guaranteed to do the trick.

A Beautiful Body

Let’s not forget probably the most obsessed over beauty factor for Americans – their body size. A huge proportion of Americans are overweight and it’s due to our extremely fatty diets. We consume donuts, pizza, soft drinks, ice cream, biscuits, cakes, and pies like crazy while fruits, grains, proteins and veggies sit lonely on their shelves. But this is not a difficult problem to turn around. It’s just a matter of identifying what you like then replacing the bad foods with the good ones.

Yes, there are a ton of miracle cures out there that proclaim their ability to provide the beauty you want. But real beauty starts on the inside – literally. So take the time to analyze and adjust your diet. You’ll see that what you thought could only be controlled through external products is actually something you can control while doing what we all love to do, eat.
