Creating Fashionable Homemade Jewelry
67Wow, a lot of people seem to enjoy this hobby. Well, first of all you really need to have an idea as to what your inclined to create. Some people only work on necklaces and earrings. Others just concentrate on bracelets. Whatever the choice, please remember that just because it's homemade doesn't mean it has to look that way. And if you're planning on selling it people will still expect quality.
There are so many choices as far as materials go. You could work with Austrian crystal, quartz, beads, turquoise (which I personally love!). Flipping through a mainstream magazine will definitely give you an idea as to what colors are fashionable at the moment. For Fall you can use silent colors like chocolate brown, dove grey, black, and clear crystals or beads. Although rich colors like mustard, plum, midnight blue, and citrusy green also work for the season. Again, I don't know if you plan to do this as a hobby or a business, but if it's the latter, most customers will usually tell you what colors to use. For ideas on design you can always go to your local craft store and pick up a magazine on the subject. Once you build a relationship with your customers they'll eventually have ideas as to what they want made. Last year I had a co-worker make a rosary out of clear Austrian crystal with silver stoppers which I gave to my mother as a birthday gift. It's absolutely stunning! Once you see what's available you'll usually start imagining what you can create.
Rely on your inspiration and try to be original. The best of luck to you!
