You’ve seen them, those women with endless gorgeous thick lashes and you wonder, “How do they do that?”

I used to wonder when I worked for several online beauty companies.  But wonder no more.  I have researched and gained knowledge from working in the beauty industry.

 

Tools that you will need before you begin:

 

An eyelash curler, Q-tips, a tissue, eye makeup remover or a gentle cleanser for any mistakes, lash comb, and your favorite mascara.

 

First wash the area with a gentle cleanser before you begin. 

 

Curl the lashes:

 

You will need an eyelash curler to make your eyes really open up.  You can find one in any grocery store or drug store near the beauty tools.  Curl lashes by placing the curler as close to the base of the lashes as possible with out pinching your lid, squeeze and leave for a moment.  Keep moving down the lashes all the way to the ends by squeeze lightly to get the lashes to curl up and open up those sexy eyes of yours.  A word of caution don’t squeeze too tightly down on your lashes or you may get a harsh angle, according to Kevyn Aucoin of Making Faces.  I love my eyelash curler it seems to really make my lashes appear longer and does open up my face.

 

Mascara:

 

You may want to begin by taking a tissue and wiping off any clumps from the brush and then start at the base of the lashes.  Extend all the way up to the tips.  You can go side to side once you get past the base of the lash and then brush outward and upward, according to Kevin Aucoin.

 

If it helps you can hold your skin tight with your free hand and look down while apply your mascara.  You will want to add two to three coats for thicker lashes.  According to Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual, the blackest of black mascaras will make the eye stand out the most. 

Separate any clumps with your eye lash comb.

 

If you make a mistake quickly wipe off any mascara before it dries.  If you have any stubborn dry mascara on your skin you can use a Q-tip with eye makeup remover or a gentle cleanser to clean up the area.

 

Eye Opening Tips:

 

You can use gold shadow on the inner corners and lids of your eye to help make eyes bright, according to Cristina Bartolucci in the Sephora Makeup Book.

 

Another eye opening tip use a flesh colored eyeliner inside your lid to minimize redness, according to Shane Paish in Sephora.

 

False Lashes:

 

False lashes come in individual lashes or the whole false lashes.  Individual lashes are more natural looking. 

 

First apply lash glue to the false lashes with more on the corners since that’s where they come up first and let it dry a little.  Begin by placing the false lashes as close to the lash line as possible and in the inner corner of the eye.  Gently place the lashes all the way across the lash line.  Once applied you can gently push on the lashes with the end of an eye brush.  If any lashes seem to long you can carefully snip them with scissors.

 

Finish off by hiding the false lashes.  You can use a smoky line of color at the base of the lashes then curl the lashes with a lash curler then add mascara, According to Making Faces.

 

Now you will be the one men and women think wow and they won’t know your secret either.
