Creating Your First Hub On HubPages.com
67Creating your first hub can be very easy if you know how to do it.
In this tutorial I will walk you through all the necessary steps to begin you Hubs carrier and creating your first Hub.
Without further introduction lets dive straight in:

Step 1:
After you signed in to your account select My Account from the tabs in the top of the page.
You will be taken to your Account on HubPages. From here you can do many things, but for now let constrate on creating your hub.
Step 2:
Press "Start a New Hub" displayed as an red arrow.
Step 3: Choosing Your Hub URL (Web Address)
In first half of the screen you will able to choose your hub title and your hub URL.
URL - Is the site address that appears on address bar in your browser.
The Hubpages platform will create your URL from the title that you write the first field.
Every space character will be replaced with a hyphen (-).
Choose a catchy title, this is what the visitor will see when he search for something new to read, a good title make all the different.
Your title and your hub URL does not have to be the same, you can change the URL address in the second field.
Think before your choose the URL for your new Hub, put important keywords in the URL address.
After you finished CHECK the URL, you will not be able to change it after you done with this screen. You will not be able to correct any typo mistake.
So, check and double check !
Step 3: Add Tags To Your Hub
In the buttom of the screen you can choose your new Hub tags.
You can many tags that describing your new hub.
Tags are important keywords that related to the content of your hub.
Write all the tags the runs in head, if your want you can or change it later.
Now before you hit the continue button, go back to the Hub URL and check it again.
Then Click Continue to the next screen.
In this Screen the Hubpages platform will remind that they will not allow any content on your hubs.
Your are NOT allowed to put any content that:
- Spam
- Adult
- Gambling
- Non English Content
- Copied content
Also your are not allow to perform any deception in your hubs.
We can summarize all in one sentence write good and informative content and you will be OK.
Press Continue to go to the next step
That's it, you have created a new empty Hub.
Now before will fill it with content lets configure some settings.
Step 4: Hub Settings
In the upper part of your new hub you will the global configration setting for that specific hub.
There are 4 tabs: Settings, Summary Text, Group and Help.
The Settings Tab
Title
In this tab you can configure the title of your hub. This title will appear on your browser heading. You may already configured it when you created your hub URL.
Ads
This will configure how many adsense block will you have your hub. You can configure it from:
- None - which will not display any adsense ads.
- Low - 1 AdSense ad block.
- Normal - 2 Adsense blocks
- High - 3 AdSense Blocks
After that you need to approve the your hub meet the Google AdSense program policy.

The Summary Text Tab
In the summary tabs you can write in few sentences what is your all about.
Un-check "Calculate summary automatically" to write your own summary text.
If you don't write anything, the Hubpages platform will take the beginning of the of hub and put it as a summary.
My recommendation is always to write your own summary, that way you attract more visitor with catchy text and convince them to read your hub.
More readers mean more traffic and more money.
The Group Tab
In the group tab you can connect related articles to each other.
Most new user tend to miss this wonderful feature and this can cost them with low traffic.
In your account on HubPages, you will probably create many hubs in different topics. You need to create a group for each topic and set the correct group for any hub that create.
This will create a navigation links in inside you hub that will link to all the others articles in the same group.
In order to create new groups and manage exiting ones, go your account settings located the My account tab in upper part of the page.
Step 5: Understanding The Hub Structure And Fill It With Content
Hubs are contracted from capsules, each capsule can contain specific type of information.
The empty hub that you have just created already have 3 capsules: text capsule, photo capsule and comment capsule.
In order to add information to each capsule all you need to do now is to edit each capsule and add the information that you want.
You can do it by using the buttons that are on the right of each capsule heading.
You can add new capsules and change the order of the capsules.
In future tutorials I will explain with extra details on each type of capsule and how to add new capsules and change the layout of your hub.
After you have finished writing and filling all you content you can choose what you want to do.
You can publish you hub so every one can see it, you can save it unpublished or you can press the preview button to get a preview how will you hub look like.
that's it, you have finished creating you new hub.
Now promote it and tell every one that you know about you new baby hub.
