Choosing a decor color for your child's room is on of the most important decisions that you will have to make. Allowing the child to choose his own color will benefit all of you.

Now a days there are so many color schemes to choose from beginning with the primary colors of red, blue, and yellow to more obscure lime greens and plum purples.

There are a few tips that you should keep in mind when choosing a color:

1. Choose a unisex color, such as white, orange or red, if you have a boy and girl sharing a room.

2. Have fun with color. Choose a color and then mix it with a neutral color such as tan, grey or brown or choose colors that are opposite from each other, on the color wheel, that will complement each other. Another choice may be to use three colors that are right next to each other such as blues and then greens.

3. Use primary colors and get back to basics. Throw in a neutral color to balance such as a white bedframe.

4. Create secondary colors by combining two primary colors such as red and yellow to make orange. Paint two walls one color and then the other two another color.

5. By mixing a primary and a secondary color, you will make a tertiary color such as red and orange or blue and green.

6. Mostly you should have fun with colors and not be afraid to make different combinations.
