Use your YouTube Channel

Should you have a YouTube Channel? While I usually do not answer a question with a question, here I go:

Are you in business (in some way, shape, or form)?

Then, yes, absolutely you need your own YouTube Channel. It is yet one more way to:

  • Advertise your goods and services; and
  • Drive traffic to your website.

The nice thing about having a YouTube Channel is that it gives you the opportunity to show what your business does in a very visible way. If you sell books, then you would have videos about that. If you make toys, you could have a video of a toy being made from start to finish. Making things visual increases the likelihood of sales.

In addition, YouTube Channels provide you with the opportunity to get your name out there and give out a link to your main website.

It is incredibly easy to get a channel for yourself. You probably already have one, you just do not use it. Everyone on the planet who has signed up for a YouTube account has that capability available. Might as well use it.

And, yes, I do get traffic from that channel.

What if I don't make videos?

That is perfectly fine. For my Best Online High Schools website, I have a YouTube Channel. You can see it here. The first thingthat you will notice is that I have no videos of my own.

That being said, you can see that there are over twenty videos listed. How can that be? What I have done is searched YouTube for videos that match my topic (earning a high school diploma online) and then I "favorite" them. What happens each time you favorite a video is that it becomes part of your channel. All of a sudden you have content that you did not have to create. Life is good!

YouTube 101

Something to remember

When you went to my YouTube Channel, you saw that my website has an orange theme to it. You have many ways that you can make your channel look different than other channels and it is relatively easy to do. So do it already!

Something I should mention is that I chose orange because that color is predominant on the Best Online High Schools website. It is almost like I designed the channel with that other website in mind.
