Watermark an image and text

Creating a watermark Effect in flash 8

To Create a water mark effect in Flash 8, we are going to use a feature called "Filter" which is available in Flash 8 proffessional . They are not available in Flash Basic 8. Flash 8 filters can be applied to text, MovieClips, and Buttons only.

1. Open a new flash document.

2. Select View->Magnification->show all

3. Select the rectangle tool from the tool box. In the property panel, (If the property panel is not there, open it by selecting windows->properties) select the line to No fill and select the color for the Fillcan . Draw a rectangle on the stage .

4. Select the rectangle . In the property panel for the rectangle, set the width and height to the stage size. Here we are using the default stage size width= 550 and height = 400

5. Add a New layer by selecting Insert->timeline->layer. Lock layer1 by clicking the lock dot in the timeline. You can see a lock symbol on the dot as in the picture.

Watermark a text:

To create a text as a watermark, we are going to add a text in the layer2, by selecting the text tool from the toolbox and typing a text . For example “My WaterMark”.

Increase the Text size . Using the resize (free transform ) tool, rotate the text to your favourate angle.

In the property panel of the text. Click on the Filter tab. Click on the “ +” sign and select drop shadow option from the dropdown list. Now change the following options:

Blur x =0

Blur y =0

Strength = 15%

Check the Kockout check box.

Done….!

We have made the water mark text.

We can watermark an image too.

Import the image to watermark to the stage by selecting File-> import-> to stage and select the image file in your computer.

The image appears on the stage.

Select the image and right-click. Select “Convert to symbol” . In the window that apears. Select the graphic option and give a name to the image. Here I use “img_gc”.

Select the image again.Now the property window shows the image as a graphic. In the property panel, click on the Color dropdownlist and selct alpha. Set the alpha to 20%.

Now the image is a watermark.

Done…!
