What is Linkedin?

Businesses and business professionals alike are flocking to Linkedin to the tune of 45 million users! You need to be where your customers are and if you haven’t set up a linked in account, you’ve come to the right place. Here is a quick and simple video on how LinkedIn works.

LinkedIn is one of the top 5 social networking sites with over 11 million unique visitors per month and over 42 million monthly visits. This social media website is the perfect place to build your business, find potential partners and create partnerships. Below you will find step by step instructions on how I created my account on LinkedIn.

1.Go to www.LinkedIn.com. Enter your information and hit the join now button.
2.Start filling out your professional profile by choosing the correct category in the first drop down box.

4.The next screen gives you the opportunity to find people you already know on LinkedIn.  Provide your Gmail, MSN/Hotmail, Yahoo or AOL information or you can skip this step and save it for later.

5.Once you get to the next step, Linked In will require you to verify you say who you are by sending an email to the account you signed up with. Sign into your email account to confirm.

6.The confirmation link in your email will take you to a new linked in page.  Hit the Confirm button to validate your identity.

7.You will find yourself on the sign in page where you must sign in with the email address and password you just used to create this account. Put in your information and hit the Sign In button.

11.When you go to the Groups link you will get the opportunity to search for groups related to your industry or interests, you can create a group or follow a discussion within a group.

12.Hit the profile link.  By default your information is public.  I recommend turning your public profile off until you complete filling in all of your information.  To turn it off hit the Edit Public Profiles Settings Link on the upper right.
