Creating a project
56Writers everywhere are faced with writer's block at one point or another. There are also times when the ideas are there, but work is hard to find, especially for new and unestablished writers.
This is when many writers create their own projects. Some create promotional websites to help spread the word of their achievements. Some create online e-courses, while others create their own writing services. The possibilities are limited only by what you know.
If you write fiction or poetry, you could try starting a critique group, either online or in your community. You also might try starting a website for those writing in your chosen genre. Non-fiction writers might try ghost writing or talking to local businesses about doing ad copy for them. Be sure to do your homework though.
There are hundreds of books, websites, and magazines that can answer just about any questions you may have. Don't be afraid to ask questions either. Even if you feel that they may sound dumb, ask anyway. Chances are there is somebody out there that knows the answer and is willing to help.
Always set realistic goals for yourself. It's a good idea to start out small and work your way up. Only you know how much you are capable of doing. No matter how much you learn or think you know, there's always somebody out there who is more than willing to expose any mistakes you make. Fact checking is as important as spell checking.
That being said, don't sell your self short either. Don't let that little voice in your head convince you that you're just not ready. As a defensive mechanism, that little voice comes in pretty handy, but as a critic, it can be your worst enemy. It is possible to train that voice to stand back and let the creative voice out for awhile.
Whatever project you create, keep at it. Even if it's only for a short time each day. Once you've polished and shined it up, you might find that you've created something that others had been waiting for.

Wondrous and very helpful advice!!! That dreaded critics voice is the worst, and keeps so many of us from letting the true light within us shine!
