Creation or Evolution - which theory do you believe in?

I would respond to that question by asking why does this really have to be an either/or scenario?

Is it really so impossible to believe that if God had created the universe he/she/it would have created it through the methods and laws that scientists insist are out there? I suppose that means my answer is evolution. I simply can't see a rational reason why someone who believes in God could not believe that he/she/it just might have decided to set the events of evolution in to motion.

The "either/or" scenario is a fact since so many folks out there believe in either/or, NOT in both. Yes, there are some like you (and me) who believe that God created the universe and set into motion the process of creation.

I think the answer is evolution. From the scientific knowledge it is clear that organisms evolved from pre-existing ones....

For more details i prefer the reader this site.

well everybody has there own beleifs. i think we are from evolution. the reason is that if you think about it, if god did all he is said to do, would'nt it be kinda like HARRY POTTER? poof a man poof a women poof animals poof water poof plant life so on & so on. evewryone has to beleave in something it gives them sanity. it gives them peace so that is my take on this subject.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not taking a position on either side of the fence, and I certainly did not intend to imply that I believe that god created anything. My issue is simply that we have two situations here. On the one hand we have people with a certain set of beliefs based on nothing more than faith. Fine with me, I won't be one to tell someone what they should or should not believe so long as they have no expectations that I believe the same thing. On the other hand we have scientific evidence, not proof mind you, but compelling evidence that shows that the theory of evolution is a very strong likelihood. When we're talking about what should be taught in schools or any other forum where actual science is in question, I'm simply saying that the creationists or proponents of intellegent design would do well to consider the possibility that their diety is not so limited that he/she/it is incapable of setting the process of evolution in to play. This way we have at least a chance of having rational discussions in multiple forums.

Hey C, I hear what your saying. It all comes down to origins, though. It has NEVER been shown how life can just appear from non-life (primordial pool). A little bit of research will show why dna and rna cannot exist in anything that can come together in a pool or pond. (mostly due to oxygen) which is vital to life as we know it, and harmful to anything that is needed to form the first cell.

I have been where you are,I thought " why could't (a) God just set things into motion and here we are today". Well, the answer for me was what the Bible has to say. If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, as he is portrayed to be, and then you believe what He tought, you are on your way to Bigger issues then this topic. If you don't believe, you have Bigger problems than this topic.

But to summerize my path, here it is. I am a believer. Jesus refered to Genesis as "factual". Archaeology has consistently validated historical text contained within the Bible. Scientiffic discoveries have "caught up" with what it teaches", eg. the earth is round and not flat. The creation story explains MORE questions than evolution. (even the harder ones).

I could go on, but my point is, if you (or anyone else) is truly seeking answers, they are out there. God said "whoever seeks Me, will find Me". Keep seeking.

Last comment. Google "evolution a mathematical impossibility" and see what is written about that. Good "luck".

aka-dj, thank you for your response. I can see that you believe what you state, and there is value in that. I have just a few comments, and I will not discuss this again.

First, I'm not sure where you have been, but I am not searching for answers. I am killing time during downtime at work. I am quite confident in my own set of beliefs.

Second, any argument that involves the bible as proof of anything in the tangeble world requires that all parties involved accept the perspective that the bible is the written word of the divine. I do not, therefore any argument you make that involves the bible has no more validity for me than D.W.Ivany's example of Harry Potter. I respect that you believe in the bible. Please respect that I do not.

Finally, for you to state that "evolution is a mathmatical impossibility" is not backed up by mainstream science...I said science, not google... Further, you contradict your own argument that god is all powerful when you make that statement. My only point is that if your god is all powerful then in his eyes there is no such thing as an impossibility, mathmatical or otherwise.Work that one out before you claim that evolution is an impossibility.

Feel free to have your beliefs and share them with those who are open to them, but also keep in mind that your arguments are baseless unless they are made from evidence that is recognized by all parties.

I hate the whole debate. It is becoming blown out of proportion and is needlessly polarising opinion. The ID/Evolution debate, as portrayed in the media, is building artificial walls between science and religion. They generally co-exist quite happily, and have done so throughout history.

I've never understood the need for debate either. Evolution makes sense and doesn't negate the idea that there could be a creative force behind it. Thanks for a great hub.

Creation and evolution theories may be complementing wach other. Another spiritual theory is found in following blog;
