WHAT IF YOU ARE ALREADY UP TO YOUR NECK WITH CREDIT CARD DEBTS?

If you are already seriously weighed down by Credt Cards debts, and your income is way below your comfort zone to service all those debts its high time to reassess your position.

You should call your card issuer to negotiate to restructure your debt. This is another way to budget your finances. You impress upon your creditor that you are only able to pay that amount after auditing your finances. However you must note that once committed you must ensure that you will honour your commitment every month without fail. Most creditors would be willing to negotiate with you, after all they are aware that in the event of bankruptcy, they may not recover anything.

You should consolidate you Credit Card debts. If you owe more that one creditors then it would make sense to transfer all your debts to one account. The minimum repayment would be much less than if your have to service multiple debts. Refinancing of debts is currently one of the strategies of card issuers to increase their portfolio. Therefore, take advantage of the balance transfer schemes being offered.

You should also look out for those special card transfer scheme offered in order to refinance your debt with another card issuer for a lower interest rate and sometimes interest is waived for certain period upon transfer of the outstanding balance. Often there will be no transfer fees involved. This will certainly buy you time to put your finance in order.

Two other options, though not very palatable are to sell your assets or refinance your assets to reduce your Credit Card debts. Interests on mortgage loans are lower than those charged by Credit Cards. Finally, you can  borrow from your friends and relatives to ease the situation in the short term.
