10 percent of the US Population suffer from one or other form of bad credit. Loans with high interest rates, severe terms, credit card denials and outright refusals - all become a part of daily life when you have bad credit. No matter who you are credit history is a thing not to ignore.

A FICO score above 650 will mean a lot when you venture out for loans, credit cards, mortgages etc. So how to repair your credit history using credit cards? What increases the credit score? The credit score is an indication of how much confidence lenders have in you. The higher it is the better is it for you. Here are few tips that will help you increase your credit ratings using a credit card.

  1. Accept the fact that you have a bad credit.
  2. Get your credit report preferably from all the three credit bureaus. Get a clear idea about your current credit ratings.
  3. Research for the best credit card that you can get your bad credit situation. There are plenty of sites which tell you about the credit cards available.
  4. Make sure the credit card reports to the three credit bureaus.
  5. Go through the terms and conditions of each card and find the one that has the most lenient terms.
  6. Choose one card and apply for it. Make sure you fill out all the details required and don't miss out on anything important.
  7. After you are approved for the credit card, use it, make purchases, this will start the credit repair process.
  8. Don't ever go overboard, stay well within the credit limits. If you are using more than 70% of your credit limit, the whole exercise can be jeopardized.
  9. Repay all outstanding amounts well before the due date.
  10. Try to avoid cash advances, as they invite high penalty and some cash advance fee. If for any reason you've to take it make sure to repay it in full before the due date.
  11. Ask for credit limit increases.
  12. Continue the good work and you'll achieve what you want.

Yes! It is all about sticking to the basics. Bad credit credit cards are good instruments to repair and rebuild your credit history. The only catch is that you'll have to shun all the worst credit card practices and improve your financial discipline.
