The first time I had crème brulee was on my wedding night. My new husband made reservations for us at a fancy restaurant. When we looked over the dessert menu he ordered crème brulee because he had never eaten it before. The chef brought it out and torched it with a crème brulee torch right in front of us. It was served with strawberry slices. Of course I had to try a bite and loved it! My husband loved it and it is now his all-time favorite dessert. Almost every time we go out now, my husband orders crème brulee. We have had it served with a lime sauce at an Italian restaurant. At another restaurant we received three different flavors of it, chocolate, vanilla, and berry. The chocolate was really amazing, although I think I prefer the vanilla. We have had it both chilled and warm. I like it when it is chilled but then the top is torched. My husband loves it so much that I have to make it for him at home too. When I want to make things special for him or show him I love him the best thing I can think to do is make crème brulee. I get a little mix in the European section in the grocery store. It is very simple to make although it is not nearly as good as the kind you would have in a fine-dining restaurant. I also serve it with sugared strawberries.

Crème brulee is a great dessert. I like it because it is very light-tasting and not very rich. So even after one of those wow-I’m-so-full-I-don’t-want-to-think-about-dessert!” dinners, you could still find room for crème brulee. I also love the texture. It is so silky, like pudding, but so much softer. Most of all I love crème brulee because to me it is romantic. It is romantic for it’s romantic quality as a dessert but also for me because it has so many romantic memories attached to it. It always makes me think of the love that my husband and I share.
