Pattern...

Materials:

  • 7 Ounces Worsted Weight Yarn
  • Size I Crochet Hook
  • Stitch Markers
  • Fabric to line purse with [optional]

Notes: [TrC= Treble Crochet / DC= Double Crochet] The pattern consist of alternating front post treble crochets and back loop double crochets. It is a very good idea to use stitch markers to mark where you decrease (since you use the post and not only stitches from previous row).   • To begin: Take up yarn and size I crochet hook. Create a 'magic circle' by wrapping the yarn twice in a circle (then working inside the circle) OR chain 3. [for complete instructions on the 'magic circle' Click Here]
  • Round One: Work 12 DC in circle OR third chain from hook. Sl St to first. [12]
  • Round Two [increase in every stitch]:Ch 2. * Increase by working 1 DC in back loop of the next stitch then 1 TrC around the post of the same stitch. Repeat from * around. Sl St to first. [24]
  • Round Three [increase in every other stitch]: Ch 2. 1 TrC around post and 1 DC in back loop of next. 1 TrC around post of next. 1 DC in back loop and 1 TrC around post of next. 1 DC in back loop of next. Repeat from * around. Sl St to first. [36]
  • Round Four [increase in every third stitch]: Ch 2. 1 DC in back loop of next. * 1 TrC around post and 1 DC in back loop of next. 1 TrC around post of next, 1 DC in back loop of next. Repeat from * around. Sl St to first. [48]

For the Strap:

  • Row One: Ch 2. * 1 TrC around post of next, 1 DC in back loop of next. Repeat from * until thirty two stitches have been made. Ch 2 and turn. [32]
  • Row Two: Decrease One. * 1 DC in front loop of next, 1 TrC around back of post of next. Repeat from * to last 2. Decrease One. Ch 2 and turn. [30]
  • Row Three: Decrease One. * 1 TrC around post of next, 1 DC in back loop of next. Repeat from * three more times. Decrease 2. * 1 TrC around post of next, 1 DC in back loop of next. Repeat from * to last two. Decrease One. Ch 2 and turn. [26]
  • Row Four: Decrease One. * 1 DC in front loop of next, 1 TrC around back of post of next. Repeat from * to last two. Decrease One. Ch 2 and turn. [24]
  • Row Five: Decrease One. * 1 TrC around post of next, 1 DC in back loop of next. Repeat from * to last two. Decrease One. Ch 2 and turn. [22]
  • Row Six: Decrease One. * 1 DC in front loop of next, 1 TrC around back of next post. Repeat from * to last two. Decrease One. Ch 2 and turn. [20]
  • Row Seven: Decrease One. * 1 TrC around post of next, 1 DC in back loop of next. Repeat from * to last two. Decrease One. Ch 2 and turn. [18]

  • Row Ten: Decrease One. * 1 DC in front loop of next stitch, 1 TrC around back of next post. Repeat from * to last two. Decrease One. Ch 2 and turn. [10]
  • Row Eleven: Decrease One. * 1 TrC around post of next, 1 DC in back loop of next. Repeat from * to last two. Decrease One. Ch 2 and turn. [8]
  • Row Twelve: * 1 DC in front loop of next, 1 TrC around back of next post. Repeat from * across. Ch 2 and turn. [8]
  • Row Thirteen: * 1 TrC around post of next, 1 DC in back loop of next. Repeat from * across. Ch 2 and turn. [8]
  • Row Fourteen - Eighteen (or length desired): Repeat rows Twelve and Thirteen. Tie off and weave in all ends. [8]

For the second Strap: Attach yarn into Tenth Stitch from where first strap ended. Repeat from Row One for the first strap

To Finish: Attach yarn into any stitch at the top of purse and work a row of sc completely around; working roughly 2 sc in through side of each double crochet of straps. Tie off and weave in all ends. Measure, cut and sew liner to preferred size. Place inside and sew in place.
