You didn't think I was going to watch all this uproar unfold and not comment. Well after a few days of hearing the media,our president and of course the parties involved, here's my take! This is my opinion remember as you read this,but also consider I am speaking from 8 yrs law enforcement. Some of those years have been in a high income communities(Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades) very much equal if not more exclusive than the Cambridge, Harvard Square neighborhood. So I have dealt with plenty of rich, successful, prominent folks. Usually everyone cooperates when you show up to their house on a burglary call. So the fact that the police/Sgt. Crowley responded to Professor Gate's home with back up, is pretty procedural. I have heard everyone's side via media and what sticks out is that Professor Gates immediately pulls out the race card. He seems upset that Sgt Crowley asked for ID and proof of residency. Yet if he didn't and someone ended up killed or something missing he would be criticized.

Ok lets back up, so The Cambridge Police Dept. receives a call of two black males breaking into a residence. Which Gates confirms by stating that he and his black limo driver were trying to get into his residence after he misplaced his keys. So Gates gains entry and tips the limo driver who leaves. Well now Crowley arrives on scene. He makes contact with Gates. Crowley request Gate's ID which he refused,which both of them confirmed to the sequence of events. Now I'm not sure and I'm assuming based on Gate's and his neighbors reaction that this neighborhood does not have many African Americans living there. So the logical thing to do if your an officer, is to ask a male black who is at the residence, where you received the call to, for ID. Well Gate's believes your a racist if you do that. This is why he went off on Crowley  about the race issue.

I have come across alot of people like Gates and white Gates type people. The question is would a white Gates have gotten the same treatment? I say no because, White Gates would have not pulled out the race card. I'm sure they would be angry and irate but they would have not said you are asking me for ID because I'm white! Plus Crowley told him to settle down but Gates refused. So if he was white and would not calm down than I think he would go to jail as well. Where is the line drawn, how much is freedom of speech and how much is disorderly conduct? We have to draw limits and lines so people don't abuse them and are aware what the consequences are when you cross those lines. I wont name names but I have come across alot of black male rich successful athletes who are dicks. Some of them I would consider racist, and by that I mean prejudice against me and others my color. That color being BLUE! Because I wear a blue uniform with a badge I'm the MAN! I'm evil, racist, I can go on and on!

Yes maybe we can argue that it comes from years of oppression and past police behaviors. I believe we have come very far since those days. I'm sure there are still racist people maybe some are cops, But i don't believe Crowley is one of them. 

 I'm bothered by the fact that people are quick to judge when they have not all the facts. So Mr President why would you say the Cambridge police acted stupidly? Well maybe because he and Gates are boys! So of course I would expect my Boys to back me up. If there was a sign of racism there don't you think the black officer would say something to someone. Nope he supports Crowley, who by the way was appointed by a black police commissioner to teach racial profiling to recruits in the academy. What do you have to say about that Gates? Wait you say the black officer is a sell out, so that's why he wont speak out. So what would you call Professor Gates who rubs elbows with the Harvard Elite who are majority white? Spare me, I actually believe it was a combination of race, money and status. Like I stated earlier where is the line drawn? We as people can not allow another human being verbally abuse us because they have money and status. Especially as police officers, If you allow out then what will happen to all the police officers that come after you. That's exactly what Mr Obama is doing. He is empowering people black or white or brown to behave a certain way towards police officers. Sorry Gates, Obama and everyone else that thinks Gates was arrested because he was black, It is not ok to act a certain way towards cops or people!  

So who's right and who's wrong? Is It Crowley and his watch who respond to a burglary call and encounter Gates Irate and begins to throw the race card and status in society card around. What about Obama and Gates who are boys. Which they claim the police are not of there caliber because they dont have Harvard degrees. So these dumb cops who where blue are racist and have no right to question us! You decide but me I'm staying with what I know. No matter how successful you are or how rich, you can still go to jail, and all that money can not cover up your ignorance!
