The Power Within

The natural power of crystals and polished stones is an interesting topic all in its own though of course there are those who do not believe and are skeptical. But of course there will always be skeptics on any topic that is talked about these days. Crystals and stones are natural gifts from the earth itself, beautiful and mystifying as you gaze upon them. Even the geology of these stones and how they were crated is quite an amazing story and a great study.

Stones do not come out all shiny and smooth unless they have been found in river beds, man is the one who takes these stones and polishes them up to make them more desirable and to bring out their natural beauty. Crystals can also be shaped by humans but mostly people like to keep them in their natural beauty as they were taken from the Earth. The crystals’ natural beauty makes them more desirable to collectors and healers or even though just interested in their beauty to have around the house. The crystals and even the polished stones can lighten up your house and looks great in vases with fake flowers if you don’t want to use the polished rocks that they have for fish tanks.

Crystals and stones aren’t just for their beauty though as it is stated above. They are also used by many natural healers, the healers believing the magic beyond the stone and crystal, hidden beyond the layers that create each. Thousands of different crystals and stones each having their own special healing powers as well as many other tributes such as giving one a boost in their confidence or to help with inspiration, there are even quite a few that are supposed to help with one’s memory. Crystals and stones also come in varies shapes, sizes, and colors, even within one group such as tiger’s eye, there can be many different colors to help provide different types of healing and other properties. They also have the polished stones shaped in animals so that you can carry not only the stone but also the power of the animal, your spirit guide if you will.

Crystals and polished stone aren't always just for looks, they are have other special attributes for us humans.  The bookstores full of many types of books that are great read as well as a great addition to your own home library, especially if you are a strong believer in their mystical powers and are a natural healer. There are of course a right way in keeping your crystals and stones cleansed so that they can work their magic every time you use them. One such way is using a special salt that they sell in Occult type stores but because some crystals naturally have cracks in them, using salt may harm your crystals by making those cracks larger thus destroying your crystal. Another way is using clean water but again because some crystals are fragile and may have cracks within them, you do not fully immerse the crystal into the water, but use a squirt bottle then towel dry them with an unused towel. Once you have cleansed them, it is better for you to be the only ones to touch your crystals and stones since they are meant to be used by one healer, not many. And if they are touched by another person, that person may transfer their negative energy into the crystal or stone, thus making it harder for the healer to use their magic when needed. The best place to keep your crystals and stones are in nice felt bags if you can, but if not any nice bag will work. This will help protect your crystal and stones from any negative energy.

Some of the MANY crystals and polished stones

Since there are so many stones and crystals I will only cover a few crystals and a few of the polished stones and their healing attributes. I will also discuss some of the other attributes that these crystals and stones are supposed to help with besides the healing properties. Again it is all right if you do not believe, this is information that I believe as well as wish to pass on to you, the reader. Great information and I believe very intersting information for all.

I have provided pictures of the books that I have in my collection that I have yet to read completely or have just begun to skim the surface myself on crystals and polished stones.  I have also included pictures of crystals that I have in my possession as well as polished and unpolished stones that I have had the pelasure of coming across.  The last is one of the four shaped stones that I own; I also own a cat, a tiger, and a heart, each made of different stone and each glowing with their own magical attributes.  I also enjoy using these for inspriration, holding them in my hand or staring down into them as they create fun images and playful thoughts in my mind that helps me write.

Obsidian known as Apache Tear:

It is a common black stone that is found in the United States. Of course there are other stones in the Obsidian family but I jsut chose one. It will help you with any negativity that you feel within yourself and draw this energy out of your body slowly and absorb it within itself. Cleanse it after use of course so that the negativity can be cast out of the stone and ready for the next use. It is also great for protecting your aura and is a great comfort to those who are sad or stressed. As for healing it is said that it may enhance the Vitamin C and D as well as remove toxins from the body and help ease any unwanted muscle spasms.

Bloodstone also known as Heliotrope:

It is a beautiful mix of green, red and some yellow stone that is readily available in the United States. This stone comes from several places: Australia, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Russia and India. One of my favorite beautiful stone. It is a great blood cleanser and is believed to be a very strong healing stone, great for the healers of the world. It helps those dealing with irritability, aggressiveness, and impatience. This stone is a great source of courage and is said can even teach you how to avoid bad situations. For healing it is great as stated before for blood cleansing as well as helping ones immune system flow correctly. This is just a few of the healing properties.

Aquamarine:

This stone everyone knows by sight because it is a calming blue green color and is also known as a birthstone for March. It too is readily available and comes from many different places; United States, Mexico, Russia, Brazil, India, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. This stone is to say is a great stone for courage as well as helps with reducing stress and calming the nerves. (Something I wish I had while taking my Speech class back in College or any class that had to have a talking presentation done by me for that matter.) For healing it is said that Aquamarine is great for sore throats, swollen glands and even thyroid problems. There are a few more but of course as I had states only will tell you a few of the healing and other properties related to these great crystals and stones.

Amethyst:

A beautiful royal purple this stone is used for the birthdays of February and one of my favorites. It can be a deep royal purple all the way to the lightest lavender in color, there being specific colors with extra properties that I won’t list but will give you the other colors: Violet-Lavender Amethyst, Pineapple Amethyst, and Chevron Amethyst and no it isn’t shaped like the Chevron symbol. They come in all shapes and sizes and of course are VERY popular and well sought after. This stone comes from: United States, Britain, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Sri Lanka, Uruguay, east Africa, Siberia, and India. It is said that this is a very powerful and very protective stone and can help protect the wearer against any psychic attack by turning that hatred and sending it back to the attacker as love. Another great stone to have in case of stress and to will away negative energy. Also helps one with a huge decision one must make or even help the wearer with common sense and spiritual insights. For healing purposes this stone is great for headaches and tension that may plague your body as well as a good friend to those who may suffer from insomnia. I myself am going to try this for my sleeping or lack of sleeping at night. It says to place it under the pillow and it will help ease your thoughts, calm your mind, and bring on sleep.

Quartz Crystals:

My all time favorite has to be the quartz crystal for it’s simple yet complex beauty and because it comes in more than one type and color. The Clear quartz is the one I will be talking about but I will of course list ALL Of the other types of quartz crystals. The quartz crystal is a beautiful clear stone that can have tiny lines within them; some can also be considered clear crystals even if they are a bit milky in look. Most types of quartz crystal can be found though there are a few that are harder to locate but can be found worldwide. The clear quartz is said to help cleanse your internal organs and help them function correctly as well as your soul. Of course there are more attributes when the crystal is shaped into other things or are a different type than the clear. For healing purposes it is the master of healing crystals and can help a person sooth any burns as well as bringing one’s body back into balance.

Other quartz crystals:

Blue quartz, golden healer, green quartz, harlequin quartz, lithium quartz, natural titanium, natural rainbow, tangerine quartz, Tibetan quartz, aqua aura and laboratory- made specialist quartz: rainbow aura, opal aura quartz, rose aura, ruby aura, sunshine aura, and Siberian blue quartz (those stated before are laboratory made quartz crystals, the following are more natural crystals), phantom quartz, rose quartz, rutilated quartz or angel hair, smoky quartz, snow quartz, and tourmalinated quartz.

Great book to have for crystal and stone hunting

All of the crystals and stones, mentioned and not mentioned, are of different sizes and colors. I only skimmed the very surface of the contributions that the crystals and stones can make in one’s everyday life. Not only does the difference in color and size matter for each crystal and stone for the healing properties and other properties to take affect but also in the placement of each whether it be on the body or around your house.

Most of my information came from a GREAT book: they Crystal Bible by Judy Hall. It not only shares the properties but also the position and has great pictures of each so that you the crystal and stone hunter may find exactly which crystal and stone you are looking for. She has also written a another Crystal Bible full of more crystals, stones, and pictures which I of course will be picking up the next time I am in a bookstore.

Happy crystal and polished stone hunting! I hope that you pick up the books or at least the Crystal Bible book before you go out hunting so you know exactly what you are looking for. Enjoy!

One of my favorite places to peruse is the Swarworski store that sells the most exquisite crystal figurines. I think that the cheapest sculpture you can buy is a $40 flower the size of your thumb. I actually bought a few things from the place as gifts for people.

Fun facts about crystal, crazdwriter! Great job on digging up info. Thanks! I'll see you in Disney World :D

Hey gurl, you do real good on this. I read a lot of stuff on ancient crafts and sorcery, so I pretty much can relate to what you're giving out here. The amethyst is one of the most ancient crystals known to man, its mystical psychic abilities are almost, if not divine. In fact, The Book of Revelations lists it as the 12th stone used adorn the 12th and last foundation of the New Jerusalem. That's gotta mean something. :). Some other psychic crystals I can think of are the topaz, chalcedony, beryl, agate and many others. Five stars on a great hub! :)

Excellent! I am working on a hub about this very topic! Maybe we can link up!! Great job!! I carry a pouch of stones specifically for inspiration, creativity and clarity - one of each color for balance and an extra citrine - this is an orange-ish stone and is considered the "writers rock" Great hub!
