All About The "Crosstown Classic"
The "Crosstown Classic" is the annual meeting between the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox. It's only six games a year: three at Wrigley Field and three at U.S. Cellular Field. The six games are basically the "World Series of Chicago" since it's hard to fathom these teams ever meeting to play in the real World Series.
The fans in both stadiums are always seriously revved up. Chicago baseball fans take this seriss very seriously. In Chicago you are either a SOX fan or a CUBS fan - THERE IS NO IN-BETWEEN. That's just how it is. You love your team until the bitter end and you HATE the one on the other side of town. It's North Side vs South Side.
Baseball braggin rights for the city of Chicago will be on the line. In 2008 the Cubs and Sox split their series, with both teams sweeping the games in their home stadium. This makes the ALL TIME series record between the Cubs vs White Sox even at 33-33.

Cubs vs White Sox 2009 Schedule
The 2009 edition of the "Crosstown Classic" will be played at both Wrigley Field and US Cellular Field in Chicago. It will be the classic old school Wrigley vs the modern Comiskey Park. Just like their teams, the north side and south side fans love their home field and hate their opponents stadium. Sox fans call Wrigley a falling apart dump and Cubs fans call "the Cell" a soulless mall. This is only one of the many battles that will be fought over this interleague series.

Cubs Fans vs Sox Fans - Who's the Hottest?
One More Thing for Cubs and White Sox Fans to Fight About
In Chicago, not only is it Cubs vs White Sox, North Side vs South Side and Wrigley vs "The Cell", we even fight about who has the best looking fans.
Your decision once again will be based strictly on which side of town you live on. In Chicago we have confident, friendly midwestern girls who love to cheer on their team just as much as the guys do. They also don't mind to dress up and look good. You only have three months a year of hot whether in Chicago so the girls always take advantage off it and show off what they've got. When the weather heats up, so do the outfits.
This is the one thing that's a WIN-WIN for both teams!

The Most Infamous Battle in Cubs - White Sox History
Every Cubs and White Sox fan remembers this one! It's become a legendary incedent in their rivalry and people will continue to talk about it for years to come.
On Saturday, May 20, 2006 in the bottom of the second inning at Wrigley Field, Brian Anderson of the White Sox hit a sacrifice fly and the catcher AJ Pierznyski, (who always manages to find controversy) ran home. There was a play at the plate and Pierzynski crashed into Cubs catcher Michael Barret, (who also managed to find controversy during his stint with the Cubs). The ball was knocked loose and AJ slapped home plate in celebration,
Pierzynski began to walk away, but then Barrett blocked his path and straight up punched him in the jaw! Apparently he thought he was disrespected, it was a dirty play or that AJ was a jerk. The crowd goes wild of course, especially since Barrett is in front of his home fans. The benches cleared and the game was disrupted for 15 minutes while the umps brought things back under control. In the end Barrett got a 10 game suspension, Brian Anderson got five games for fighting after the play was over and Pierzynski walked off home free and waved to the crowd to show that he could take a punch, pleasing the Sox fans in attendence. The Sox would go on to win the game.
Michael Barrett would end up being more well known for this then anything else he ever did in his career. Besides get in a fistfight with his own pitcher Carlos Zambrano in the dugout that is. The Cubs let Barrett off the hook for punching the White Sox but as soon as he got in a fight with their own star pitcher he was benched and promtly traded. But Cubs fans will still always love him for punching AJ anyway.
This Is Going to Be Fun!
