Must See Movies

Blade Runner (1982)

Plot - Rick Deckard, played by Harrison Ford, is a retiring cop (Blade Runner) in the year 2019 in Los Angeles. He takes on his final assignment to help track down and kill the illegal replicants (genetically manufactured beings) that have escaped on Earth.

This Ridley Scott Sci Film is a must in anyone's collection of cult classics. I would suggest getting the 25th anniversary version of the film as it has the full package in regards of video and audio feature. Scott's Final Cut.

Donnie Darko (2001)

Plot - Troubled teenager, Donnie Darko played by Jake Gyllenhaal is a sleepwalker who seeks the meaning of his world-ending vision. Along the way he meets a scary bunny called Frank and an old lady called Grandma Death.

The film is a weird experience at first, but after a couple of views it is quite compelling. Apparently a sequel is on the way to us soon.

The Goonies (1985)

Plot - Anyone that was born in the seventies onwards knows about this great family adventure film. The Goonies are a group of local kids from from the Boon Docks who go on a trail of the lost treasure, which belonged to a pirate named, One-Eyed Willy.

In their pursuit of riches they need to save their homes from demolition they come face to face with the notorious criminals, the Fratellis who race them to the treasure.

A feel good film with plenty of entertainment. The great characters in the film have made this film amongst the best cult films ever made.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

Plot - The film portrays the legendary quest of King Arthur to find the Holy Grail. Comedy genesis such as John Cleese, Eric Idle and Michael Palin contribute their talents to this incredibly funny film of spoof sketches.

This film is for anybody who loves the old style "crude" jokes of yester-year. A great edition to a movie collection.

Labyrinth (1986)

Plot - David Bowie plays a Goblin King called Jareth and he captures the younger brother of Sarah Williams (Jennifer Connolly). Sarah enters a world of fantasy as she goes on a quest to find her brother. She encounters goblins and monsters on her journey.

Another family adventure that is a must see for any avid movie junkie.

I hope you liked the list. I'll post another five classic cult movies in due course.

Enjoy!

Monty Python and The Holy Grail!  YES..."Bring out ya dead."  And now that's available as a ringtone which is great!  Also, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life was really funny, but I don't know if it's up to cult status standards according to others.

Here are ones that also need to be seen, maybe before the list above...

A Clockwork Orange, Heathers, Trainspotting, The Warriors, Pump Up The Volume, True Romance, Rock N Roll Highschool, Dead Alive, Kids & Wet Hot American Summer.

Three of those have Christian Slater in it...WTF?

Ok Adam a couple of those films will feature on the next Cult Classics Hub. Not sure though they should be put before the ones I've mentioned. Cult classic movies cannot be put in a favourable or status top ten unless you want to start your own. Cheers for the comment dude.
