Duncan's Passion Epilogue
61The Cornett’s had now lived on the Farm for two years. During that time they discovered that O’Connor had embezzled over $2,000,000.00 from John Thompson. They recovered that and live comfortably and ghost free in their mansion.
After the incident in Duncan’s cave the Sheriff department came in with a forensic team.
They discovered five skeletal remains of men who had been slain by sword and left hidden away in the cave. The evidence showed they were victims from the mid to late 19th century, only a part of Duncan’s sins. It seems Duncan had a real passion for gold as 1/3 of it was minted USA coins from that century also. From where he obtained it is still unknown. Of course since the statute of limitations having long passed there were no crimes to attribute to anyone except O’Connor and he was beyond reach of the law. His death was ruled as accidental by blunt force trauma as the large metal shelving with its massive weight of gold upon it had crushed him.
Ohio State University sent archaeologists to study the cave and its surroundings after the skeletal remains had been removed and interred properly. Tammy and Tom requested special permission from the State to allow them to be buried beside the huge boulder and had a Historical plaque placed there for commemoration and as a memorial to the unknown victims.
There was an old diary in Olivia’s ‘house’ that explained the story of her birth in America in 1685. Her real father Patrick Flemmen was a gentleman and Officer of the army who had an affair with his good friend Captain Farrell’s wife Jenny. The Captain had been robbing the people by charging them more than was decreed. Farrell, having been robbed by him from his cargo of tax money he had gathered from the citizenry, found out about the affair and set Patrick up. He threatened to shame Jenny for her conduct in front of the church and used this ploy to capture his hated enemy. After Patrick’s arrest the Captain hanged him the next morning. Three months later Patrick’s brother Sean had his revenge and fell upon the Captain with a rapier killing him. He then fled to America with Jenny who was pregnant. He changed his name to John Campbell and Jenny’s was changed to Grissell. So then Olivia was born in Lancaster County, PA. And had died at an extreme age in Beverly Mansion, Virginia in 1787 leaving five sons and two daughters and many grandchildren. She had married a Thomas Buchanan who was a wealthy politician much involved in the Continental Congress.
Tammy
Tammy decided the gold within the cave was blood money and wanted nothing to do with it. She had Sotheby’s auction most of it off and the rest that held a historical value was donated to the Smithsonian. All proceeds were used to form a charitable trust for orphaned and abused children. She did allow Tom to keep the little knife that was lodged in his butt crack and the coins that were found in the lead lined chest.
Duncan and John both married their sweethearts and are doing well with their band. Once a year they hold a huge keg party on the farm and many local bands come to play their music. This event is known as Cornett’s Autumn Rockfest. Tom always finishes the event with his own band of bearded men who look like they are all homeless individuals and always end it with the song Whiskey in the Jar in tribute to Olivia.
Tom
John visits his grandmother often and has learned much from her in the way of spiritual healing and manifestations of spirit reading in so much as to be able to tell good ones from evil ones and how to deal with each.
A local legend has it that at certain times of the year if
one is near the huge boulder at night, five reddish figures are seen and heard
trying to gain entrance into Duncan’s Cave with shovels and pickaxes. There is
never any evidence of them or their labor the next day. This legend has grown
as undesirable locals regularly sneak into the hollow with metal detectors
looking for possible spilled gold coins or other pieces of value. Tom has a
small collection of metal detectors he has found in the hollow seemingly
dropped in haste. Some autumn night at the rising of the Moon come visit the hollow that holds secrets still.

I loved this and feel the fascinating tale needed an epilogue. I still say this should be in paperback my friend.
Hi Soft, Knockemstiff is in south central Ohio. Well, read the story then and come back if ya wish. thanks for listening to the vid and leaving me a comment and compliment.
queenbe, so glad you stuck it out and read the whole thing. Yes, I will turn this into a full novel soon. I need to let it rest a bit first. Thanks now and see ya 'round.
This was good...and your addition to it with this one made it all the more entertaining...Hey by the way notice my new avatar on my profile???? Medusa, just like you said! lol
Haha You did get her. that's cool! Love it JJ. How'd you do that?
Cheers Ralwus. Another interesting read. :)
Thank ya Lady E. that's the end o' that.
Its just a cut and paste your head into the painting thing..my son found it for me! lol
I figured as much, thanks. How are ya?
how are you ralwus, when will you publish your story? I think it will be too soon now, and the epilogue too.....i really like the style of writing....a breather from what I am used to do....
Wow, lots of back story on this, Charles! I was drawn into all of the characters and many a time, I laughed heartily at the Cornetts (in good fun of course). Thanks Charles.
It's too early pretty. I need to do a rewrite and add more substance to it to make it into a novel. Thank you for reading and enjoying it and leaving me such wonderful compliments.
Well Dohn, it is finished here and no Cornetts in sight. LOL It was all in fun so laugh away, they don't mind. I guess I did my job well then if I was able to have a good following and to pull you all into me whopper of a tale. thanks Dohn, but I cannot rest on this alone can I? See ya buddy. CC
lol Charlie--Whoops, sorry for the delay in catching this--we've been off the computers all day today! And Tom's computer was down since yesterday, until a few minutes ago...poor guy...thought he was gonna go into withdrawal, hahaha.
So, anyway--back to the important part...the epilogue was so neat, how you tied it everything all together so nicely. I love how you detailed Olivia's background(especially the Campbell part, lol)--how fitting for her character!
And I'm so happy that Tom got to keep the buttcrack knife, lolol!!!!
So you're really going to flesh this out and make it into a novel? That is wonderful--you did such a terrific job on this--you should be proud!
Thanks again for the wonderful honor, "Cousin" Charlie!!! You know how crazy we are about you!
~~hugs~~
Gee poor tom! I was wondering what was wrong. I'd be in withdrawal myself. haha Yes, the story needed to be tied up neatly as those things could not be told in the telling or it would have spoiled the whole thing. Now did you catch the name in this song? Sean O'Farrell. Is that cool or what? and my last line was a stroke of luck in that I had the rising of the moon and when I found this video, it was like providence or something. I am glad to have you two in this and yes, I will now turn it into a full fledged novel for the press. All thanks to Mikayla's photograph's which gave me the inspiration. I need to email you or something. bye now dear. CC your cuz
Charlie...grinned and chuckled! You wove this story so well. You are a trip my friend...a fine trip indeed! My next beer...you're gettin' a toast! "Here's to Charlie...may he be blessed with love and wealth!" :)
LOL, make it Scotch. So happy you guys loved this as it was a real piece of love I put into it, or rather my passion. Watch those chili farts now. Thanks Tom. Bless you guys in all things. I am wealthy in love, friends and so much more.
Great ending to a great story. I think you should and could write novels. You are a wonderful story teller. Have a great day and a good rest. :)
Thank you so much LMY. I am working on it, really I am. You too now, and see ya later.
Well now that was a heck of a ride!! Very interesting story my friend and of course, told with great expertise and style. Thank you very much for that.
Oh Moonchild60 the prettiest girl I know. Didn't even know you were following this Princess. You are so welcome and I am so honored always by your courtly presence highness. Thanks so much for reading it. Charlie
Charlie - Great ending!! Two Thumbs up! I did forget to read the epilogue but as I am reading the end... one nevers knows; There could be sequel, you are so creative and a great story teller I am sure there is something brewing behind the scenes that might reveal its ugly head....??? It was pleasure and a joy reading this.. I am an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed reading your novel.
Hi ya pretty lady Cheri. Oh there maybe another ugly head or two, one never knows. I just need to do it and make it happen. Thanks so much for the compliments darlin'.
Ralwus - I didn't include the epilogue as part of my printout. I read this earlier, after back reading a little of the last story.
Wonderfully twisty, great narrative and a fab short-ish bedtime story. I really enjoyed it.
Though it wasn't in book form, it was still on paper and I read it in bed. I think to become a novel it would need fleshing out but the core, the story is (I think) worthy of the extra mile.
A story teller you are. Among many other things. Thankyou :):):)
Andy I am so glad ya enjoyed it. Thanks so much darlin' and I will flesh it out proper like. Se ya later now and be well. CC
Great Job bringing it all together! Kudos!
Jib, I am genuinely tickled that you enjoyed this and thank you so much darlin'. peace CC
I still want some KFC.
So sorry dude, I ate all but 2 thighs, my lunch today. Hey thanks for enjoying my story man. See ya later now. Don't work too hard and have a great weekend, Charlie a best bud.
