Curb Sugar Cravings For Good
72It's Better to Eat an Apple Than a Chocolate Cake
Do You Crave Sweets?
Are you one of those people who can't say no to dessert? Have a stash of candy or cookies hidden somewhere in your house? Do you often go through mood swings and changes in energy levels? If you answer yes to any of these questions, it's quite likely you may be a sugar addict. Below we'll explain what sugar addiction means and what you can do to help curb those sugar cravings naturally - and for good.
So What Is Sugar Addiction?
Many of us are not even aware that being a sugar addict is even a problem. I didn't know that such a thing existed until it dawned on me that might be the root of the problem behind my Mountain Dew addiction. I constantly needed something sweet to keep me going throughout the day. Without my sugar fix of Mountain Dew, I was quickly irritable. Even when I did get it, I usually felt lethargic and sleepy all the time. I felt like I didn't have any energy quite a bit - and often it was difficult to concentrate when I was working or doing other things.
What happens to some of us is that our bodies are very sensitive to sweets. Our blood sugar levels get all out of whack and our body starts producing either too little or too much insulin. This causes the mood swings, the cravings, the lack of energy or feeling tired.
Why Should I Reduce How Much Sugar is in My Diet?
Many times we don't really think too much about what we eat unless
we're looking to lose weight or maybe we go to the doctor and the
doctor says we need to make a change. Unfortunately, when you neglect good eating habits,
you could potentially be setting yourself for a lot of health problems
down the road. Good nutrition is very important not only for
maintaining a healthy weight, but also to ensure that you have enough
energy, feel great, look great, and reduce your risks for common
problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and others that can be
prevented with a good diet and exercise program. Reducing how many sweets you eat will help you maintain a healthy weight as well as make you feel better both physically and emotionally as well.
What Do I Do to Stop the Cravings?
If you are reading this article at this point you have likely realized the first and most important step of recognizing you may have a problem resisting sweets. When you acknowledge that a change needs to be made and you are willing to make that change, overcoming the cravings is much easier.
The best way, though not the easiest way, to change your habits for good is to reduce and eliminate as much added sugar in your diet as possible. This means eliminating the obvious culprits such as cookies, chocolate, cakes, sweets, and others. You can make the switch to sugar-free varieties. For me, sugar free pudding was a great way to get that chocolate fix without the guilt. Diet soft drinks may also help if you are the type of person who drinks soda nonstop.
One important thing that many people overlook though is reducing refined grains also. This is because many times our bodies treat these refined grains the same way as sweets, which can change your glucose levels. Refined grains are foods such as white bread, regular pasta, white rice, and others. You should try to replace as many of these refined grains with whole grains as much as possible. Whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, whole grain rice, and other similar alternatives
It's not easy to completely make these changes, especially if you are going cold turkey. Learning a few helpful steps and tips on how to stop sugar cravings, such as drinking plenty of water and eating more vegetables can help as well.
It's an amazing difference in your life when you learn how to curb cravings and no longer feel dependency on sweets. Not only will you be taking great steps in having better health, but you'll also likely feel much better as well!

Well said Chelles. I discovered I had a sugar allergy and was amazed at how the cravings stopped when I eliminated it. Another point - to check all product labels for added sugar - bread, crackers, canned goods etc.

Hi there;
Thanks for visiting my site.
I love the articles on your HUB
I am going to borrow some of your ideas to help my weight management group. Many people crave sweets. My problem is my love of salt and the fact that salt doesn't like this body.
Take care and have a Fantastic day
