Can We Possibly find a Cure for Tinnitus?

It’s one of the biggest questions nowadays. Tinnitus sufferers have been searching for every possible way to find a cure for tinnitus. They will do everything to get rid of it. If you have it, it will make a huge difference and your life will never be the same as it was before. There will be uncomfortable situations, hard times in coping, anxiety and depression, which will make the person less functional most especially at their work place.

Sufferers want to find a cure, to be able to work and live normally. They are all looking forward to the day that it will all be gone.

There are several ways to manage it. Like, if you are experiencing difficulty in sleeping, try listening to ambient sounds like relaxation CD’s using tinnitus maskers, you may also lower your stress and anxiety levels for it can make the tinnitus worse, share your struggles to others because you will need a lot of understanding from them, or you may also join a support group of people who have also experienced dealing with the symptom.

Counseling is also recommended, because some patients think that they have a serious or progressive disease such as a brain tumor and they sometimes worry that they may be psychologically ill since the noise is in their head. So counseling may be beneficial, not only to overcome their fears, but also help them to understand that it is not a threat in any way. It will help them to correct any false or unhelpful ideas to find a cure for tinnitus. It involves providing necessary information, and helps develop a positive attitude.

There are also relaxation techniques that you may want try. People notice the symptom more whenever they’re tired or worried so their level of anxiety and stress increases. Relaxation techniques will help them manage the symptom.

So can we possibly find a cure for tinnitus? No. Remember that it is not a disease that needs a cure, but a symptom that has to be managed. But who knows? Someday, somehow, someone will come up with a cure. But for the meantime, you will have to face the fact, and once you accepted the fact that it is going to be a part of your everyday life, you will then learn to live with it. The best thing is to do is just keep going and rely on your family and friends for support. Give your family members some slack even when you are stressed because it’s hard on them too. Do not let it control your life, instead, control it and start enjoying life and aim to get your life back on track.
