Different ways to cure anxiety attacks
Anxiety attacks are frightening, debilitating and bewildering. The attack can come from nowhere for no apparent reason. It is this that makes them so scary. If you are suffering from anxiety and want to cure anxiety attacks it is wise to seek out help and rid yourself of this terrifying illness.
Here are a number of methods to deal with or cure anxiety attacks.
1. Hypnosis.
Either with a practitioner or using an audio course. The course is cheaper than seeing an hypnotherapist and can be effective. Some people respond better than others to being hypnotized.
2. Deep breathing and relaxation techniques.
I find yoga very beneficial, both physically and mentally. It calms me and helps to keep my life balanced. Yoga can be demanding and requires concentration, but at the same time improves focus and concentration. A great addition to other therapies that you maybe trying to cure your anxiety attacks.
3. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Defined as a form of psychotherapy that emphasises the important role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. Basically are thoughts govern what we do, not external influences such as people, events and situations. I have gone through the process and found this very beneficial also. A great way to improve positive thinking, I am still amazed at the manner in which my thought patterns have changed. An effective way to prevent anxiety attacks.
4. Medication.
There are wonderful drugs now to help with this condition. Not to be dismissed lightly taken under professional guidance in a controlled manner.
The above ways can all be effective but there are drawbacks.
- Therapies and medication can be expensive.
- The time taken to achieve results is open ended which can be frustrating.
- Medication does have side effects - you have to weigh those up against the benefits.
- Some people might feel uncomfortable at the thought of being under hypnosis. You have to trust the therapist. This is a pre-requisite for all types of therapy.
As I said I have found some of the above great but that does not mean it is for everyone.
What do you do if the above does not appeal?
There is another method I know of called the Anxiety Release Method. This teaches you how to break the cycle of fearing another anxiety panic attack. Based on cognitive psychology, it is based on the theory that when an anxiety attack occurs, brain function moves from the front of the brain which is in charge of rational thinking to the mid brain, which is the fight or flight, the survival part of the brain. To stabilise or even cure anxiety attacks, brain function needs to be moved back to the front. It is that straight forward.

Some people might prefer to go through a program with someone else. If that is the case perhaps a family member who is appreciative of your condition could do it with you. Perhaps you could set up a group on the web to support each other. The author, Joe Barry offers one-on-one help as part of the deal.
Lastly, remember that Anxiety and Panic Attacks are not life threatening. They are frightening and debilitating, but if you take action you can cure anxiety attacks and get back to leading a normal life.
