The Cure For Panic Attacks

Panic attacks can be quite merciless and they also are known to attack people of all ages, races and even children as well as both sexes and they can strike without warning or they may gradually develop from feeling somewhat anxious to then become a full blown panic attack. Unfortunately, there are no simple cures for panic attacks that can will work as simply as just snapping your fingers and wishing the problem to disappear. At the same time, there are a few possible cures for panic attacks that might even provide a permanent solution to the problem.

Don’t Be Embarrassed By The Problem

First of all, it is important for a person that suffers from panic attacks to overcome their embarrassment regarding their problem and to instead make it a point to discuss the problem with others including their doctors. Ignoring or allowing the panic attack to strike at will is certainly not going to help you find a cure for panic attacks; so, don’t do it. Unfortunately, many sufferers of panic attacks tend to ignore the problem and though this will not lead to life threatening consequences it can do more harm than good – especially in the long term.

Panic attacks cause considerable deterioration in the quality of life of the sufferer and because such attacks can occur at anytime and without warning the consequences can often prove to be very severe and something that you will want to avoid as much as possible. The best cure for panic attacks is any cure that addresses your particular symptoms and which addresses the root cause of your panic attack and which is not meant to be a cure-all for all panic attack symptoms.

For example, by taking a pill to control your anxiety and fears you will only get temporary relief but the root cause will not be determined or treated. And, no sooner than you stop taking the pills that the problem will resurface. This then is not the best cure for panic attacks.

A better cure for panic attacks is to reduce stress levels in your life, and in addition, even changing your diet can prove to be very effective. A diet that is properly balanced will nourish the body and help with repairing any damage to its cells. Taking too much sugar, caffeine and highly fatty foods will do the opposite; you will feel more tense and stressed and this can cause rather than be cure for panic attacks.

The bottom line is that whether you choose medications or other natural cure for panic attacks you will only get relief if you spend much time, is dedicated and are patient about making the cure work for you. It would be unrealistic to expect results overnight and so you must be prepared to wait for considerable periods of time before the effects start to show up.

People who suffer from panic attacks would give anything to know how to stop a panic attack on the spot. Nobody wants to experience those terrifying, exhausting symptoms that interfere so harshly with everyday life.

For less severe attacks, there are usually four things you have to do in order to know how to stop a panic attack after it occurs. That may seem a bit easy but in reality performing these steps can be very difficult when it the midst of an attack. Still, knowing how to stop a panic attack is half the battle in actively stopping them, so you should learn.

First, relax. Panic attacks occur when a person’s stress level rises. Take a step back and take a few deep breaths. Calm yourself down by reminding yourself that nothing bad is actually happening to you.

Next, stop thinking negatively. Figure out what negative thoughts were racing through your mind before your attack and you’ll know how to stop a panic attack – just isolate those thoughts and try to let them do.

Use coping statements – tell yourself that you’ll be fine or repeat a song in your head. And finally, accept your feelings – acknowledge that something scared or upset you so you can try to assimilate them and move on. Doing these four steps is the key to knowing how to stop a panic attack.

Many people who teach panic attack sufferers how to stop a panic attack also offer cognitive behavioral therapy classes. These classes help teach people how to stop a panic attack on their own.

Don’t Be Afraid To Do What You Have To

And it’s important to note that knowing how to stop a panic attack also means knowing when you won’t be able to do it without the medication you may have been prescribed. For somebody that suffers from very severe panic attacks or very severe panic attacks, knowing how to stop a panic attack won’t matter because many of those techniques have no chance of actually working during a severe panic attack. Don’t be ashamed if you have to take the medication to get the panic attack under control – knowing how to stop a panic attack means that you have to recognize when it’s just too severe for the more mundane coping methods!

Knowing how to stop a panic attack requires you to really understand yourself and how you work. You have to know what is likely to trigger an attack as well as how to stop a panic attack in the way that’s best suited to your own needs. Nobody knows you better than you, after all.
