Hello and welcome to my hub on IBS, this is especially important to me as I have been suffering myself with IBS. At the point of writing this, I stil have it after moving into our own home and working flat out painting etc.

It is no fun, and it has laid me up, I am so weak right now, (12-03-2008). I was told not to over do it, now I'm suffering.

Anyone who has ever had Irritable Bowel Syndrome aca IBS, will know how debilitating it is. The bloating stomach, the constant runs to the loo, the Diarrhea, and sometimes bleeding from the back passage, like I have.

This is a bit of a delicate subject, but one that affects so many people, that's why I wanted to do a hub on it. To find relevant info not only to help me but others with this chronic digestive problem.

Did you know this, according to a study by John Hopkins university, over 15% of the population in developed countries suffers from this condition.

Can you relate to any of these symptoms, don't worry you're not alone...

  • Abdominal pain (pain in the tummy). Often sharp & uncontrollable.

  • Diarrhea (or frequent motions). Usually chronic in nature. Passing stool 3 to 8 times each day.

  • Constipation (or infrequent motions). Usually with cramping or stomach pain. Motions less than 3 times a week.

  • Small, lumpy, hard stools. Almost like “animal droppings”.Being tired & exhausted from your frequent visits to the bathroom.

  • A sensation of incomplete emptying of the rectum after going to the bathroom. (Always feeling like there’s more to come).

  • Bloated feeling in the stomach, physically looking much more bloated on many days.

  • Urgency for needing to go to the toilet.

  • Serious episodes of gas. Passing them as wind (through the anus, often foul smelling) or belching (also known as burping).

All symptoms are usually intermittent (on and off over time)

Avoid your coffed and tea anthing with caffeine in it.

You should avoid those fizzy drinks as well, like any soft drink and sodas.

You should watch vegetabe pulses that create gas in the intestine and stomach.

Fo a long time, many people suffering with IBS have found great relief with peppermint. Peppermint tea is very popular as is Mintec a peppermint capsule found in Australia, don't know about anywhere else.

It helps soothe the muscles within the bowel and settles things down a bit for you.

Aloe Vera Is Another Excellent Natural Remedy

If you've ever read anything on IBS then you would have surely read something about Aloe Vera, a wonder herb that really helps with combating IBS.

Food Remedy For IBS--Pineapple

It is a known fact that by eating natural foods (Not Processed) that this will help in healing our bodies.

If we get the right amount of vitamins and minerals in our diet, then this will supply our bodies with the nutrients we need. This in turn will strengthen our immune system and make us stronger.

By eating the correct foods, we are supplying our bodies with what it needs, eg. If we put diluted petrol in our car it is going to run sluggish, the same goes for our body.

This intake of the right nutrients will definitely help you body in repairing itself. Especially your digestive system.

IF your body can absorb the vitamins and minerals, you will have more energy and stamina to do the things you want to.

So if you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome you first port of call should be 'Pineapple', an awesome food to help digestion and aid in the lessening and hopefully elimination of your IBS.

You will need to get a good fresh 'Pineapple' and eat it while it is still fresh.

Try your hardest to only eat the fresh ones, if you can't get the fresh ones, then use the tinned ones as a last resort.

When preparing your pineapple, make sure you take a good slice of the skin off, then remove the crown, any rind and then the eyes and the core.

Be mindful that you should not eat too much of the pineapple, as too much can give you fibre balls in your intestinal tract.

As the saying goes, "Everything In Moderation", as the right amount is therapeutic.

You might find you'll get a tingling of the tongue because of it's acidity. You can alleviate this by rubbing a little salt on it.

Or alternatively you can soak it in some water with a little salt in it.

Canned pineapple the juice it's soaking it will do this anyway.

Because pineapple is a diuretic and a natural cleanser, it removes toxins from our bodies and is high in Vit C.

It has an enzyme in it called, bromelain, this assists the bodies digestive system to work properly. It can also reduce the inflammation of arthritis, gout and a sore throat.

The juice is also a known worm killer in your intestines.

What you should do is, after each meal, eat a slice of pineapple. This will do wonders for your digestive system-which will reduce your gas, bloating, burping and the discomfort of IBS.

Usually one to two slices a day if fine, for most IBS sufferers this will be ok, when starting out maybe try just one a day and increase it after time.

You can juice it if you like, you can try adding milk, but if you're intolerant to milk you could try yoghurt.

The Indians use this quite a bit, but don't add sugar especially if you're using canned pineapple. You can also add some ice or water

♦Though I'm an IBS vet, (LOL) I found your hub very interesting. Especially about pineapple. I always seek good gold nuggets from any source. Very good job but do a spell check in ther future. (LOL) No offense.
