Mud on a Bee Sting

WHY? Because mud pulls. That's why you have a mud pack for your face. It pulls out the grease and grime that clog your pores. Put it on a bee sting and it pulls the stinger out. The cold makes the sting feel better too. Another remedy is good old ice. Put an ice pack on as soon as you can to get relief from the sting.

Clear Nail Polish on a Bite

WHY? Because the nail polish will seal the bite preventing the air from getting to it and causing the "itch". I know it sounds weird but hey, it works.

Ice On Acne

WHY? Holding ice on an emerging pimple won't take the pimple away but it will eliminate that red puffy look by reducing some of the inflammation. Just wrap an ice cube in a cloth and hold it on the blemish for about 5 minutes. Works great before the date.

Dry out that acne blemish with witch hazel. It is an old-fashioned remedy that Grandma used for a myriad of ills. It does work! Witch Hazel is an excellent astringent and using it daily helps remove excess oil and kill bacteria on the skin.

Don't Break the Blister

WHY? The bubble acts as a bandaid to prevent bacteria from getting into the sore and causing infection. If the blister does pop leave the skin on, don't cut or pull it off. Dab on a bit of tee tree oil which is a natural antiseptic and germicide, four times a day for a week. Mix 3 parts veggie oil with 1 part tea tree oil and have it on hand during the summer when blisters are abundant. After applying the oil, cover the blister with a bandaid. The bandaid will help absorb any fluid that leaks out of the blister.

Sugar Your Cuts

WHY? Nothing bad will grow in sugar. Not bacteria or bugs or anything. It is like a sterile compound. If you are slow to heal normally or just have a cut you need to heal up, pour on a good dose of plain white table sugar. Gently shake off the excess and cover with a bandage. It will be healed in no time at all.

Swish Away Cankers With Salt

WHY? Swishing with salty water helps soothe canker sores by drawing fluid through tissues, which speeds healing. 2 tablespoons of salt per 6 oz glass of warm water is the best solution.

Gargle with salt at the first sign of a sore throat. It will help swish away the nasty bugs that caused the sore throat and sooth the inflammation.

Use Cornstarch to Soothe Chafing

WHY? Cornstarch relieves chafing by forming a protective, absorbent layer between you and the outside world. With less drag on the skin the irritation goes away. If you have areas that are always irritated like the inside of your thighs or under your breasts, dry the areas well with a hair dryer then apply the cornstarch regularly. Soap will increase the chance of chafing so make sure you rinse off well in the shower.

Get Rid Of Congestion with Horseradish

WHY? If you have ever eaten horseradish, you already know the answer. Horseradish will loosen anything, anywhere. Try a teaspoon of freshly grated horseradish on a couple of crackers. Your nose and your eyes will both be running free in no time. In a few minutes your chest congestion will loosen up as well. The results will last a surprisingly long time. Eating horseradish every 4 hours or so is also a good way to loosen up clogged sinuses and the cost is minimal compared with a prepared sinus medication.

Good hub. While I've always known horseradish clears the sinuses I don't think about it when I have a cold. Maybe next time I will remember to try it.
