Curiously, This thing about Hub Pages....
92Even in the writing answers section now! wow, but publishing on hub pages isn't enough there are so many questions out there to answer. This one asked about the making of money on writing on hub pages. If I've said it once I've said it a million times, writing a lot on hub pages is the key. There are other things that are a part of this equation, and I'll go through them, but it is the time and energy that the writing produces that gives you the small change.
So what to do what to do?
Write: Get that first article down and get it written and most importantly publish it on hub pages, I have the time now to publish a hub about everyday, but to begin with write one really good hub and make sure it follows the standard guides, meaning not to long and not too short. Get some original content, I did that with one of my hubs, where I asked what if? It's my steady and popular one, and because it's Dracula... well, I enjoyed writing it.
Writing what you know helps in the beginning, since this will establish some credibility, I didn't get into the answers section until I had more than 50 fans, for me I knew that these people would look at my hubs, so I had some credibility in my writing. Also by writing on a regular basis on hub pages you will improve your writing.
More than 100 hubs?:This is a good sign, as some hubs won't produce and others will. Some get an initial spike of visitors and then they don't do anything, except get an occasional hit and that's about it. Others keep producing long after it's written. SO, this minimizes the chances that a hub not producing traffic, will be the only source of income. If you can network your websites, such as linking one in a newer hub, people do click on links more than they click on AdSense, but this does get traffic. So Network using Stumble, Digg, and your own websites to promote hubs and anything else you write. It;s a goiod way to build an audience, from outside of hub pages.
Hub Scores:This is really important, as the lower your hub scores the bigger the signal that you should take some time to either get fans or that your hubs aren't great or up to snuff. I know some hub writer take these number way to seriously and other couldn't figure out why there is a) no traffic and b) no clicks. If for example, you have a hub that is a score of 50 and a hub with a score of 75, and one has a steady stream of people going to read it, then ask why teh50 hub is scored that way. Also if your hub score is about 60 or below and you've been here a while ask yourself how this effects your hubs, it does by the way. If you look at featured hubs, most if not all of them are in the high 90s scores, and the person writing them is respected on hub pages. If you take sometime to build an audience your hub scores will go up accordingly, but be careful, as "fanning" to many people without getting "fanned" back can lower your score.
Comments and Interaction: I try to interact as best I can but these days I write, and I write some more. Even then I try to comment on comments made to my hubs, and yes I do read some of the writing hubs others write. I try to comment on as many hubs as I can, but still people should at this point know I interact. If your comments are thoughtful and insightful this will of course build your audience as well. Oh and if you get a hub request answer it as best you can, I get them a lot, and I try to answer them as well.
Amazon, AdSense, and eBay:All of these three will get you money at some point, but I find that AdSense is a bit more steady after a while. With the other two if your hub isn't something that peopleneed they won't click, at least not on amazon or on eBay, but when they do, well it's good.
So yes there are factors in writing a hub and making money online, especially on hub pages, and it does take time and patience but it is something you need to do, there are others things, but I've mentioned them in other hubs, so you can at least say you're getting something new. Yes, income and money from hub pages does take time, but in teh end it's worth it.

great article as always Rebecca and I agree with Scott you are one of my mentors :) love to you
Thank you: I've heard this advice many times on here, but it's good to be reminded!
Scott.Life, that means so much coming from you!
RNMSN-- thanks for teh ovote of confidence.
Jane Grey, always good to hear it a few time or more.
Awesome, Rebecca, thanks again for a wonderfully informative hub!
Thank you Rebecca E,you always have great hubs with great advice. I thank you for sharing. Blessings to you. creativeone59
Rebecca, this is really food for thought. Thanks. I see I'm not interacting enough yet. To be honest it is because I'm essentially a loner, has been my whole life. But I suppose if I want to make this work I'll have to work harder at it. I tend to love reading the hubs but I do not comment enough! Maybe that is why I do not get my Hub scores up.
Thanks for the great advice. It's difficult in the beginning to get a balance between writing, reading and being active in the forums and all of this influences your score which of course does influence your fan base. Thanks for bringing it into perspective.
A very good introduction to me, I am starting soon now to jump on this wagon.
Rebecca E, You explained how hubscore works, better than anyone else I've seen. I'm going to bookmark this hub to read it again and again. I haven't spent as much time learning about how hubpages works as I should, but with hubs like yours I can cut corners. Thank you so much. Oh, and by the way I like what you say about fanning, I never knew it was called that. I personally don't like to fan that way because I like to read my fan club hubs, and I like to know who I'm fanning before I fan them. Thank you so much for your very indepth explanation.
Some insightful points, but with the little time I have, I can barely read and comment not to mention writing a hub. Thanks dear.
Shamel.
Helpful hub.. I like the way you set out the information in hubs like this one the facts are there and they are easy to follow. If I bookmark it with the bold type I can return straight to the bit I want to re-read. Thank you.
thanks for the compliment 2tuesday!
RebeccaE- I enjoyed reading this article. My own thought is that attention to an article by other Hubbers is not as important as might be the attention paid to it by those who meet up with it from links via search engines... Google and the rest of them. What are your thoughts on that? Gus
I am on teh fence, I believe that if other hub writers come and share it on Stumble Upon and other sites, then it works for all of us,
The links to other sites are equally as important, and I work hard to do this ofr myself and others.
Rebecca E, Wonderful informative Hub! This has been quite helpful! Thank you for sharing, Blessings!
thanks so much DeBorrah!
Invaluable hub once again.
Thanks Rebecca E.
Your hub here made me stop and think about how much time I spend doing "what" on HubPages. The interaction aspect is clearly very important, but unless someone as frank and helpful as yourself bangs one over the head with this fact, it's easy to get lost in other hub details. Hubbing can be an exhausting full time job! I honestly wonder what some of these hubbers whose names are everywhere on the site spouting off on just about everything----well, what the heck do they do for a living? And do they, in fact, "have a life?" Very challenging. And the Hub learning curve is steep and winding. I've only been hammering away at hubs for about a month and only have 24 hubs published, gees louyise! I feel like I've been at this for most of my life! Yes, but it is addicting, and one can meet the nicest people (such as your own sweet self).
my sincere thanks book flame, i try my best.

Rebecca, you are quickly becoming an authority on Hubpages, once again after spending times in the forums I have to wonder what some people are here to do. I notice many of the loudest debaters and bashers have been members now for months and only written a few hubs. Others having only been members for days and authored no hubs seems to fell license to remark on anything. While this site is by no means an elitist network I still have to ask "Why are you here?" THis is a writing site so start writing something hubbers please.
