Home For Abused Children

Back in 2006, I was contacted by someone at Yahweh center village for abused children requesting me to make curtains for windows and cubbies for their belongings. They were expecting an inspection and felt that things would go better if each childs room looked more homey and concealed their belongings.

I had made and donated a pillow for each child living there at the time to use when they were having story time. Each was made to reflect a girl or boy. That is where person got my name to make the curtains.

They provided the fabric and velcro to attach to the windows, closets and cubbies. Using velcro was for the childs safety so if the managed to have an epiosode and pull the curtain down the child wouldn't have a weapon to use on themselves or others. I made 22 sets for windows and closets and 12 cubbies consisting of three panels for easy access. This was all done in a month's time. They were to be a basic design.

When they got the fabric and velcro they didn't think about thread. I requested friends, craft groups and others sewers in an email to donate thread for the project. I had all the thread donated that was needed to do the project. God's hand was on the project all the way through.
