Cut Pet Expenses

Just like you cut cost on your every day needs, you should cut cost on your pets needs too.  Nowadays, every penny pinching step helps.  According to recent surveys, pet owners spend about $41 billion each year on their pets. Those dollars are spent on things like, food, toys, clothes, and vet visits.  Does your pet really need five outfits.

How to Cut Your Pet Expenses

How to Cut Your Pet Expenses

  • Cut back on the toys
  • Cut out the clothes
  • Use preventive health measures -- make sure you pet is up-to-date on those shots.  A pet illness can set you back $300 but a visit to prevent the illness should be less than $30
  • Shop around for the cheapest priced pet supplies -- look for the bargains
  • Clip pet coupons
  • Don't be afraid to buy generics.  When buying generic pet food, just be sure to read the ingredients.  Compare the ingredients of the premium pet food to the generic.  You may be surprised.  Some generic pet foods are made by premium pet food suppliers for discount chains.  Just like, Walmart does not make pet food, but they sale it.  So, who makes the Walmart (generic) brand of pet food - it's a premium pet food supplier that has an agreement with Walmart.  This is also true with batteries, finger nail polish ... and the list goes on and on.

Penny Pinching Your Pet Expenses

In conclusion, stretching your dollars should not stop with your needs.  Unless your dog is the next Lassie (employed) your dog's needs should go on the budget too.
