Cutting you power bill can be real easy and cheap. By doing some simple things you can save lots over the next 12 months.
Keep the air conditioner filter clean or replaced. Close the door to unused rooms. In the winter months lower the thermostat to 68 degrees, in the summer months raise the thermostat to 76 degrees. Save about 5%. Think about changing the thermostat with a programmable thermostat. Lowering the thermostat 5 to 10 degrees at night can save 20% on your heating bill
Lower the thermostat on your hot water heater to 100%, Insulate the unit and the hot water lines. While your at, it check faucets that be dripping. One drop per minute will use 25 kilowatts a month of power to heat. Limit showers to 3 minutes, dry your hair as much as possible before drying with electric dryer.
Turn lights off in rooms when you are not in the room. By replacing regular light bulbs, with fluorescent light bulbs, can save as much as $30 per bulb over the life of the bulb.
Battery chargers used for cell phones, lap tops, etc should be unplugged when not being used to charge item. When it’s plugged in its using power. TV’s should also be unplugged in rooms when not being used.
Doors and windows should be check for leaks. Weather stripping should be installed a=or replaced if leaking.
