When I found out I was pregnant I felt like I had the biggest announcement in the world to make. Perhaps it was the biggest announcement only in my world....but still....it was big! I needed to come up with a fun way to tell people I was pregnant. Below are some of the ideas I came up with as well as the ones I ended up using.

Fortune Cookie

To pull off this fun announcement you need to get the people you want to tell out for dinner at a Chinese Restaurant (or over for take-out at your house). Once dinner is over people always start opening and reading their fortunes. When it comes to your turn or your partners turn simply read your fortune as "I see a baby being born X months into your future." Just insert how many months are left before the baby is born and you're good to go. People will stop what they are doing and look at you like and most likely ask if that is really what the fortune says. At this point you can announce that you are pregnant!

Big Brother or Sister

Do you already have a child? If so, buy a shirt that says "I'm a big brother/sister" and have the child wear the shirt into the room of people to whom you want to announce your pregnancy. This gets your child involved and makes them feel special.

Priceless Card

This is the way we ended up telling my husbands parents we were expecting. We took a cue from the credit card commercials that are all over. I made a card on the computer and on the front it said something to the effect of:

Cost of paper to make this card $.25

Cost of ink to print the card $.25

Cost of Gas to come see you $10

Then on the inside of the card is read:

Being able to see the look on your faces when you find out we're pregnant....priceless!

The card went over really well with his parents!

Picture Frame

This is how we told my parents we were expecting. It was Christmas time so I took a baby picture frame (a grandparents frame would work well too) and inside of the frame I put a piece of paper that I had printed to say "To be filled with a picture of your grandchild on or about (due date)". It made my mom cry! Another option would be to put an ultrasound picture in the frame.

Party!

The last way I have to share is just this....have a party and invite all your friends and family and just make the annoucement!

No matter how you announce the news I'm sure everyone in your life will be thrilled! Be creative and make these ideas your own!
