Yes, if you drive to work then you already know that it's costing you an arm and a leg, unless you're car pooling. Once you get to work you have the opportunity to reduce part of your life's expenses. You may not have really thought about it but your workplace is a perfect candidate to cut expenses and save money. Where you work can help cut expenses if your employer provides good fringe benefits. Unfortunately everyone is not afforded that opportunity for whatever reason....but regardless of that here are some things that can be done.

First of all, brown-bag it to work. If you buy your lunch out every day, sit down and calculate what you are actually spending in a week, month or year. You may be in for a shock. Depending on your personal situation, dinner leftovers are always an option or make yourself a shopping list for lunch items you like and start making your own lunch. You'll be a happy camper and so will your budget.

Save that special lunch day to celebrate office birthdays or an employee leaving. I've been there and done that and you have to put some limits on yourself or you can find yourself spending your paycheck before you ever leave work.

I've been talking about lunch but don't forget breakfast. Again eat it at home or if you don't have the time to eat it there then carry it with you to work. Why stop on your way to work for fast food and coffee or buy in the cafeteria when you can do it yourself.
