Introduction

            Cyber College System is an idea for improving the level of professional studies. This system includes software and a networking structure. The students will have all their textbooks and references as eBooks in their laptops.The attendance reports, progress reports etc are obtained by the class in charge by their server laptops.Aptitiude tests are conducted periodically for all students. Each laptop is connected with the laptop of the class in charge through wireless networking. Periodic updates are given to the respective HODs and to The Principal.

           

This system is aimed at applying new technology for better education. It saves a lot of papers .Above all this system provides equal exposure to all the students and hence prepares them to successfully compete with the world.

 

Organization

The Cyber College System contains two important phases.

Software Designing

The software designing is the phase in which we define the visual interaction between the user and the system. The system should be :

1. Simple: user must be able to interact with the system without any complications

2. Efficient : The software must be fast , efficient and bug free.

3. Productive : It must be able to increase the productivity of the students and provide equal exposure to the competitive world.

4. Customizable: The user must be able to edit and add options as per their needs.

5. Security : The software must hold a secure login and authentication system to prevent fraud activities.

Networking

Now the networking phase is a much important and the backbone of this system.Some of its essential features should be:

1. Economic: The system should be simple to implement and low cost.

2. Fast : The network must be able to communicate quickly with the servers.

3. Reliable: It should be able to work in all atmospheres and have sufficient power backups.

4. Security: User Privacy should be maintained and the system should be firewalled to prevent unauthorized access and manipulation.


Design

The software for this system is designed in a simple and user friendly manner as well as incorporating all essential options.

The login screen contains field for entering the user name and password of the respective student.

Textbooks: The eBooks versions of our textbooks are saved and displayed according to the users need.

References: It includes the eBooks of prescribed references, previous year question papers, internet links and subject quizzes .

More: This is the section which contains rest of the options such as labs, attendance, aptitude tests, progress reports, circulars etc.

Hierarchy

The hierarchy of the network goes as per the diagram:

Student to Lecturer: This connection is done by wireless networking .

· The students will be able to view their attendace.

· The students can report relevant feedbacks ..

· They can get their progress analysis report in the required format.

Lecture to HODs: The attendances obtained by the lecturers from the student’s login record are passed to the HODs periodically.

· The HODs can analyse the performance of a particular class or performance for particular test from the statistics of the whole students.

· The HODs can obtain the relevant feedbacks and their requests by the student for each subjects.

HODs to Principal: The reports from the HODs are passed over to the principal at periodic meetings

· The Principal can analyze department wise results and take quick corrective measures for weaker departments.

· The Principal can obtain department wise reports and analyze the overall progress and take measures for improvement.

           Since this is a new system its practical implementation is a bit of complex . The steps for implementing both the phase are given below.

Phase 1: Software Design

·         Programming Language Used: Visual C++

·         Back-end support: SQL

·         High Security Support: The software must be secure and should not allow unauthorized  logins of   modifications.

·         Ebooks: Ebooks of the specific subjects must be purchased from their respective published and incorporated into the database of the software.

·         Internet Connectivity: It can be either WiFi connectivity or personal internet connection.

·         Labs    : Lab exercise manuals are also stored in as eBooks and the for programming labs the manuals are locked while programming to prevent copying.

Phase 2: Network

·         Connectivity: Wireless Networks

·         Cost: Economic and simple

·         Speed: The connection speed is very high and the mobility is more.

·         Security : The wireless connection must be encrypted and protected from sniffing or any other fraud activities .Users must be given complete privacy.
