OK...bear with me my friends. Although I love poetry, a poet I am not. I sometimes make futile attempts at writing it, when I should stick to just reading and appreciating the poetry of others. Today, this was on my heart, along with the need to express myself and share. So I found myself writing.....and this is what she wrote:

DANCE NAKED IN THE RAIN

My love for you

Is strong and true

But what we don't share

Is the way we care

I have given you my heart

But for some reason

You keep us apart

So come to me once

Hold me tight

Let me love you

With all my might

Give to me all the joy and pain

Then I will always and forever

Dance naked in the rain

To experience the total happiness and freedom of Dancing Naked in the Rain
To experience the total happiness and freedom of Dancing Naked in the Rain

When I was a child I use to wait for the rain. I would sit on a stool at the screendoor. When the rain started I would strip off all my clothes and run outside to frolic and dance in the rain. Now more than 50 years later, I look back and remember that dancing naked in the rain was the most freedom and joy that I have felt in my life. It was what I wanted to do, I felt no shame in doing it. Even though a family member usually quickly grabbed me and took me indoors, it was still my time to do exactly what I wanted to do to express myself and commune with nature. My time to be truly free.

Well - the next question is - when are you going to start dancing in the rain again?

Laurie,

I have never really stopped. Just toned it down a bit within moral and legal limits. However, I started my life feeling total freedom and the older I get the more I realize that going back to those early freedoms is indeed what keeps us young. Old age comes when we forget what had made us happy in our youth. I shall not forget and I shall never grow up.......no matter what my age, I will never grow old.

One of my nneighbors has an outdoor shower, somewhat screened for privacy-- but we live in the woods. There are lots of trees and bushes surrounding everyone's property. It might provide a similar feeling.
