2 into 1 Harley Pipes
Some people purchase Harley Davidson motorcycles for the looks and style while others lean more towards the hot rod side and want to modify them to make them faster and more fun to ride. One of the most common modifications that someone would make is to change the exhaust pipe. The pipe design plays a huge role in the way a modified Harley Davidson engine responds and one of the best is a 2 into 1 Harley pipe.
D&D Fat Cat Pipe Review
I have had the opportunity to try a number of different pipe combinations on my Harley Davidson and my clear cut favorite when it comes to power output and response is the D&D Fat Cat Harley pipe. D&D is a small company from Texas, but they make the absolute best 2 into 1 Harley pipe on the market in my opinion.
A 2 into 1 pipe design is very technical and I won't pretend that I can explain the actual physics of it but the laymans terms of it is that the design is such that it each exhaust pulse helps to scavenge the cylinder much better than a 2 into 2 design will. This scavenging effect is extremely beneficial to the power output and torque curves of your motorcycle. This effect is multiplied even more so if your bike is modified. You can see more of what I am talking about by watching the video above.
D&D Fat Cat Fit and Finish
The D&D Fat Cat isn't just about power though, it's a gorgeous pipe in my opinion. Some riders absolutely abhor the 2 into 1 style as it is not the traditional design that they are used to seeing on a Harley Davidson but in my opinion, I think they look great. Judging by how popular this pipe has become, it would seem a lot of people agree with me.
The chrome is beatiful, deep and lustrous and the head pipes are covered with generously sized heat shields that will keep the pipes shining and looking great for years to come. The pipes fit the bike very well and did not rub or chafe anywhere. They also installed quite easily and were on the bike in just an hour or two.
Best Sounding Harley Exhaust Pipe
So far, we've learned that the D&D Fat Cat is a strong performer that will improve the power output of your Harley Davidson. It looks great and fits the bike well and is of excellent quality, but the most important question to many Harley Davidson owners is how do they sound? Most riders simply want the best sounding Harley exhaust pipe they can buy. Best is relative as to some loud is best, others prefer quiet. I can't tell you if these are the best, but I can tell you my opinion.
A 2 into 1 pipe is generally going to be quieter than a 2 into 2 exhaust pipe but don't let that deceive you as it is quieter in a different sort of way. It has a nice, deep bassy sound to it that really has a nice sound at part throttle. These things will really start to wail though as soon as you crack the throttle and let her rip. These are the kind of pipes that you can sneak back into your neighborhood without being totally annoying if it is 2am.
So while they might be a bit quieter, in my opinion, they sound infinitely better than most traditional 2 into 2 exhaust systems. In my opinion, the D&D Fat Cat is easily one of the best sounding Harley pipes that i have ever heard.
