DDO is a free online game

This game is based on the tabletop games of the same name. It's in the Eberron campaign setting, which is relatievely new to the series. It used to go by simply the name Stormreach, the name of the capital city players started out traveling to, but now it's called Eberron Unlimited. You can play as several different races. The drow are the standard dark elf race everyone loves after the RA Salvatore books. The warforged are giant creatures of wood and metal who were built to fight each other during a past war. Common fantasy creatures like dwarves, humans and halflings fill out the rest of the races.

DDO is different from most mmo games in that it's not just a monster grind. There's preset quests to travel through with a narrator, levers and objectives. Many of the times you don't even have to kill monsters and you get bonus experience for not doing so. It's highly recommended if you play with a small group of friends or find a guild to have the best gameplay experience. Many players try to grind through the quests themselves for favor rewards/to be maximum level, and miss the fun in the process.

Turbine points

These coins are to unlock a few extra adventures, items, and character options if you're playing using DDO free to play. There's three different ways to get them: Free when you meet ingame achievements, like a high favor with the houses. DDO VIP members get a few bonus every month as part of a small allowance. In the turbine store, where you pay USD. Many of the items are cheaper to buy this way than paying for the old monthly fee though.

There are several high level quest series you can buy with TPs. I highly recommend the gianthold area. The quests there are great for levels 10 up to 16, and many other players will agree. It's probably the best bang for the buck out of everything in the turbine store.
