DIY Burglar Alarms
63Wired Alarm Systems
There are really two choices when it comes to do it yourself burglar alarm systems, you can either pull wire or install a wireless system. This article discussed the wired DIY system. There are a few big advantages to a wired system, but the main one is the initial expense of the system.
Many people want both the safety of a burglar alarm system and the reduced initial costs. Prior to purchasing a system consider the unique dynamics of your home and what it takes to cover your home. One of the disadvantages to a wired system is the need to pull cables, which may take you under your home crawl space, into the attic and through the walls. For someone who is very handy this can be a fulfilling experience and something that is easily done.
For someone a little less knowledgeable this can be a frustrating and challenging experience. Consider all your options and your ability prior to committing to a project.

Wireless Alarm Systems
Wireless systems cost more than a wired system, that is really the one big disadvantage of a wireless system. Otherwise this is the system for most people. A wireless system allows for a much lower installation time frame and can be done fairly easily.
Imagine crawling through the attic, foundation and drilling holes in the walls, floors and ceiling. This alone will take time and there is a great chance of error. Not to mention a wired system is much more likely to need adjustments to the system, so that adds time to any project.
Your home will have a base system keyboard that will monitor the sensors and receive signals. This control panel provides simple on and off capability and can be used by most anyone that has the proper key code. You may want to hide the panel so it's easily accessed by you and not others. The sensors will be placed in potential access points by an intruder, making it more likely that they won't actually make it into your home.
If you are looking for an easy solution than wireless is the way to go, if cost is an issue than consider a wired system. Either way your system will provide you with peace of mind and safety for your family.
